  • Camping pitches 10 minutes' walk from the food festival site
  • Held at Nottinghamshire's Thoresby Park Estate
  • Long weekend pitches available for 19-22 August 2022
Fab food, fine drinks and fresh air… that’s the general gist of life at the Great Northern Food and Drink Festival Camping, at a smart Nottinghamshire venue about half an hour’s drive from Mansfield and Newark. For two very tasty days on the 20th and 21st August 2022 the grounds of Thoresby Park Estate will be packed with all sorts of foodie attractions including street food stalls, artisan producers and demonstrations from visiting TV celebs including famous faces from The Great British Bake Off. The food may be the star, but it’s far from the only thing to do here – the festival site also has various craft stalls, kids’ activities and entertainment including a programme of live music. And for this year, so that visitors can really eat their way around the site and take everything in, there’s also a camping field 10 minutes’ walk away from the main event. Pitches here are available from Friday night to Monday morning, so you can explore the festival at your leisure and perhaps squeeze in a walk or two as well (you may need that activity to help you work up a suitably large appetite…) The camping field has access to toilets, showers and fresh water, and it will be kept car-free to make sure it’s nicely safe for all guests. It’s safe to assume that you’ll be doing most of your eating at the food festival site, but if you do need any additional supplies there’s a supermarket in Ollerton, 10 minutes’ drive away. Please note that you’ll need to purchase a festival ticket on top of your camping pitch – see the ‘extras’ section to add these to your booking.

Local attractions

If you need to stretch your legs a little bit, or perhaps work off some of that food (ready for the next round) you may like to take a walk to the Major Oak – an hour’s walk will get you to this ancient tree that’s said to have sheltered Robin Hood and pals. The National Trust site at Clumber Park (15 minutes’ drive) also has some great trails to stroll along. Making a long weekend of it? Options for your Friday or Monday might include outings to Creswell Crags (15 minutes) to explore the archaeological museum and wander through the gorge, a tour of Rufford Abbey (10 minutes) or a kid-pleasing time at Sherwood Forest Fun Park (10 minutes). A little further afield, stops on your journey to or from the festival might include Newark Castle (half an hour), Hardwick Hall (40 minutes) or treating yourself to some stretchy trousers at Designer Outlet East Midlands (40 minutes).
