Spectacular fishing with mighty scenic views... cast off at Nottinghamshire's Hallcroft Fishery and Holiday Park for angling in seven waters on a spacious and well-equipped park. Six lakes are at your fishing disposal here, along with yet more angling in the River Idle which runs alongside the site. You can land bream, eels, roach, tench, perch and varying types of carp at these, including at the huge Moat lake which is a regular venue for matches around its 190 pegs; if you fancy your hand at procuring pike, the river's the place to be. And if you need tackle, kit, bait or any angling advice, a shop for the same is right on site. Hallcroft is two and a half miles from East Retford, about 40 minutes' drive from Newark and half an hour from Sherwood Forest. You can stay solely on site should you so wish: the Kingfisher café and restaurant dishes up full English breakfasts, tea, coffee and toast to sort sustenance before a day's fishing; hot snacks are available some lunchtimes, and evening meals are on offer for after your angling. The restaurant is licensed, to serve boozy beverages during standard pub hours, and a pool table and darts board are to hand too. There are showers and toilets in the centre of the site, part of a good range of amenities including recycling, chemical disposal, a washing-up area and gas cylinder sales.

  • The reception is open from 9am to 5pm Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: outside of these days/times, your check-in details will be in a folder on the lectern near the reception door, if you need further help, please ask a member of staff at the fishing tackle shop, which is open daily.

Liked Took our 2 grandsons who have just got interested in fishing, the reception was closed but clear notice to go to well stocked fishing tackle 20 yards away. Checked in with clear instructions, found pitch easily and by side of two ponds spent the afternoon with the lads fishing and biking
Had a basket meal in the bar for tea all reasonably priced and all the staff were friendly
Utilities near ourselves were all modern and clean, the site very fishing orientated and why not, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

Liked What a surprise the site is amazing
Well maintained by the staff
The fishing lakes is a fisherman’s paradise

Disliked The toilets / shower room were spotless
Only downfall is the water pressure the showers are a trickle when someone else in next cablin trying to shower as well not good at all
Bar / food area could do it with opening more
Site would do with a small shop just selling
Basic bread / milk or the bar could sell it when open
Well stocked fishing shop
Pitch could do with being bigger as very close to each other when busy

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely stay, fishing lakes really big, caught a few big carp. Fishing was £7.00 a day, tackle shop was well stocked with everything you need. WiFi perfect, staff that we dealt with really helpful, toilets and showers very clean and warm, they were individual rooms with toilet, shower, sink. Pitches were a but close together but it wasn’t problem, we had enough room for our motorhome, awning and a car.
Site had onsite cafe and bar but didn’t use it, Shops also near by.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked It was very relaxing and friendly lovely park in general and will be back in the future. The breakfast we had was fantastic and the Sunday lunch was exceptional.

Disliked Speed bumps were a bit much. No evening food available at weekend and no reception at weekends. I had to extend my stay on pitch up it gave me pitch 56. However I couldn’t find it and had to go on my friend’s pitch. A small shop on site would be an advantage
