  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland
  • Half an hour's drive from Silverstone
  • Fishing lakes, bars and restaurants
What a whopper of a site. Award-winning activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome is a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire and set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes. With so much to do around its grounds, it's likely that you'll want to stay put here for your entire trip… and if you do desire to speed off somewhere, Silverstone is only half an hour's drive away. The site is set an aquadrome surrounded by water, so it has fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and an up-to-date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the team if you want to try your luck. Away from the water, the many other facilities include bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden). Just take note that the bar, beer garden and restaurant are all adults-only from 10pm. And speaking of the essentials... there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's.

Shelduck (area 2) non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Have been going to Billing for many years now, such a lovely site - plenty to do if you want it, but at the same time lots of open space if you just want peace and quiet - we like a mixture of the two, so it's great for us, and the improvements by the new owners are coming along a treat - great new shower / toilet block and also loving the amphitheatre with the giant screen - that will be fab when the Euro games are on, so hope to visit again soon - nice to see pitch rates are still very reasonable - so many other sites are over-charging in my opinion - having said we have been for many years we only recently found out about the stunning waterfall a short walk for m the park (see piccie) which was a bonus

Liked: The staff!! Amazing!…all friendly, cheerful and helpful! The grounds are beautiful, loved the new bar area, decking by the mariner, amphitheater, great stage, sound system and entertainment! Facilities were great. Children had, what looked like a great events team and had loads of fun. Well stocked shop on site, and good fast food options, if you wanted it. We had read some pretty rough reviews before we came, but glad it didn’t put us off as the new park owners are clearly spending a lot of money to put things right. It’s still very much work in progress in areas, but the park has to open to make money, so you just need to look past that. All in all a great weekend and we’ll certainly be back!

Disliked: No pavement to walk on, from behind the swimming pool / shell duck area to the main entertainment, hopefully this is being rectified as it was quite tricky walking up the road with baby granddaughter in her pushchair. I also encountered a family with two disabled children in electric wheelchairs and they really struggled. Some of the old toilet blocks have been updated, but I had to try four different toilet cubicles before I could find one that the door shut, they maybe still need final tag list to be completed? The door hinges needed adjustment so they could close/lock properly. But, overall happy with everything else :) thank you.

Liked: Staff are friendly and helpful, security about all the time.clean showers and toilets. Swimming pool was brilliant for the kids, activities on throughout the day, kids loved the little train.

Disliked: Not a lot of room in the showers to undress, wash and dress because everything gets wet.

Shelduck (area 4) electric grass pitch

Liked: Stayed for new year's party 2 nights Was good fun at the party brilliant entertainment. Unfortunately didn't get to use the pool. The toilets and showers are definitely past their best need more regular cleaning and in need of a revamp. The pitches are big but could do with some hardstanding for the winter as it turns into a mud bath. Sure it's great for summer.
