Bain View Glamping: Colonial Bell tent with private facilities

General

  • Eco-friendly glamping on a large field with pond and canal frontage
  • North of the village of Haltham; five minutes' drive from Horncastle
  • Dog-friendly site with private toilets, showers and cooking facilities

Bain View Glamping is a peaceful Lincolnshire glamping site just north of the small village of Haltham. Guests staying in this stately six-metre bell tent have access to a peaceful five-acre pasture with gorgeous views over the countryside and easy access to miles of waterside walks along the Bain Canal.

Inside, the stylish accommodation is comfortably kitted out with proper beds for up to four, soft furnishings, bed linen, towels and lights. There's also a firepit just outside where you can settle down as dusk creeps in, as well as a well-maintained eco toilet, a shower and a cooking area for meal prep in the open air. This off-grid site has a green approach to glamping and is partly powered by renewable energy sources, but that doesn't mean you’ll have to miss out on comforts like warm water or charging stations. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Bain View Glamping is a mere five-minute drive from the historic market town of Horncastle, a handy hub on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where there are several great cafés, pubs and shops. And if you're inspired by the classy decoration on show back at base, it's also good to know that this area is famed for its antiques and collectables

Everything was absolutely stunning-the hut is immaculate with the comfiest bed and best shower we've ever used! The first night there we saw hundreds of stars and the milky way because it is a dark sky area, from the hut we saw sheep, cows, bats, cranes, dragonflies, hares and swallows that swooped down into the pond to catch their tea, the sunsets were amazing and it was awesome watching the military jets and aircraft flying overhead in the day, very central to lots of different areas, well done guys the whole experience was 11/10 .

    Disliked:

Disliked nothing-but maybe a non-ticking clock would be useful in the hut and a few fairy lights around the inside of the pagoda.

What a truly wonderful couple of days!
This was our first time Glamping. We went as a family of four. 2 adults and 2 children, aged 4 and 10, and had the most amazing 2 nights.
Undoubtedly, an October Glamping trip was bound to be a little chilly, but the numerous blankets, log burner and outside fire pit, meant we weren’t cold for long.
From the moment we booked online, the hosts Lexi and Charles were excellent. Undoubtedly, as first time Glampers, we had a few questions (ok, a lot of questions) and these were all answered. (No question too silly. Very helpful hosts)
On arrival, Lexi met us at the entrance and went through everything we needed to know. It was nice to know CCTV cameras kept an eye on the car park/entrance area, without invading the privacy of the tent area. A key (given to us to look after, during our stay) meant the gate was always locked whilst we were on site.
Lexi helpfully talked us through using the gas cooking hob in the kitchen area, how to use the compostable toilet and explained how the shower worked and also the log burner in the tent. All very simple when you know how. They also supplied all of the eco-friendly shower gel, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, which was a nice touch.
Lexi made a point of saying, any issues or worries - just call! Always comforting to know.
The car was parked only about 80 metres from the tent. The wheel barrow provided, to carry our luggage from the car, was much more exciting than the usual hotel carriers! A sure hit with the children too.
Upon entering the large colonial, spacious bell tent. Your breath was taken away with the beautiful interior, decor. A lovely ecclesiastical collection of African furniture donned the room, giving a wonderfully cosy and warm feeling upon entry. Once you had taken your shoes off at the door, you were able to walk on soft carpet and rugs - loved this!
The beds were a dream, thick and cosy and laden in thick quality bedding. Even the two camp beds the children slept in were provided with the same thought and care - with plenty of blankets for extra warmth.
We cooked our own food on the fire initially, then ended up finishing it on the gas hob as it was a little windy - chicken and salad. However the lovely Smokey taste was absorbed into the chicken from its initial camp fire cooking.
Later we had a few drinks by the camp fire and the children loved toasting marshmallows. We took some outside speakers and enjoyed playing some chilled music played through our phone.
The usb charging points inside the tent were a lovely touch. And although we tried to remain tech free (within reason) we were able to charge our appliances when needed.
Waking up in this beautiful area, was just wonderful! Donned with a freshly made hot cup of coffee, a cosy blanket and happy, well rested children, we were able to sit on the comfy wooden chairs and watch the sheep dog in the adjacent field, rounding up the sheep. Then in the next field, the children loved watching the red Lincolnshire cows strutting their stuff!
A few more metres and you are at the river. The children were aware of the safety and boundaries - but at the same time, loved the freedom and open space to play in. It made a fantastic area for hide and seek!
The second day we ventured to Gibraltar point nature reserve - where we enjoyed looking out for unusual birds and playing on the sand. The children brought home a collection of pretty shells they found on the beach.
We stopped by beautiful Woodhall Spa on the way home and ended up having an unplanned meal at ‘The Mall’ - also highly recommend!
If you are wanting ideas for the day, Lexi and Charles have also provided a helpful and detailed folder, containing walks, places to visit and eateries. (They really have thought of everything)
Once back at the Glamping site, we were able to once again, relax with a few drinks and set the fire going. Always room for toasted marshmallows!
The shower each morning was lush!

From the manager...

Look at those photos! You really were lucky to have such weather in October. Thank you so much for writing about your stay and adding those small details in that other customers (I am sure) will be very interested to read. It always brings a smile to our faces to read reviews with this much depth - it's as if we got to experience our own glampsite through your words. Delightful. THANK YOU!

The most beautiful place we've ever camped/glamped in!
Where to start!? The serenity of the place, so quiet, woke up to the view of cows and sheep across the water. The beautiful bell tent that had been kitted out perfectly. The views!!! The fireplace to keep us cozy on the cold evenings. The firepit outside to roast marshmallows and cook on. The stars!! Everything was just perfect, it was like a fairytale 🥰
Lexi & Charles were great hosts. Came and met us on arrival and delivered us logs for the fire. The place is eco-friendly. We will definitely be back!

Site was lovely it is off a main B road but hut itself is set back from Road so some traffic noise to be expected on an evening however it was lovely and peaceful.
