  • Peaceful rural touring pitches on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • A 10-minute drive from Market Rasen; half an hour from the beach
  • Seven well-stocked fishing lakes on site, plus café and tackle shop
Fishing days, peaceful views and long dog walks across the Lincolnshire Wolds are the order of the day at Wold View Fisheries and Leisure Park. The spacious touring pitches here all have electric and water supply, with space for barbecues too… although if you get fed up of cooking, you can always stroll over to the on-site café for breakfast. Anglers, this is a great spot for honing your skills. Pegs are available for coarse fishing on seven well-stocked lakes, with matches several times a week. Expect (or at least try…) to catch perch, bream and carp, among others; there's a tackle shop on site too for handy supplies. The lakes are lovely to look at, but so are the Lincolnshire Wolds, pretty much next to the site (that's why they've been given Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty status). Plenty of hiking and cycling routes are on hand, from easy strolls to more strenuous days out along the Viking Way. You can have a cracking family day out on the beach at Cleethorpes, take a ride on a steam train, and wear the kids out on theme park rope courses. There’s any number of pretty villages to explore round and about, and Market Rasen is five miles away – handy for supermarket shopping, pubs or fish and chip shops.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Beautiful peaceful tranquil setting and immaculately clean. Well positioned refuge areas, water collection and deposit points. And a perfect level pitch with WiFi. Fantastic shower and toilet facilities, well lit and stunningly clean. An ideal place for everyone, great for dog walking, exercise and relaxing. The lakes are fantastic for fishing and have lovely islands with sturdy bridges, great for exploring. We met the couple that ran the site, they are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely somewhere that we shall stay at again, hopefully very soon.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Lovely quiet site. We didn't put an awning up but the pitch size would have been big enough to have done. New toilet block very clean. Nice and pleasant staff.

Disliked: Toilet blocks were freezing, which I can understand that out of season aren't really going to get used much so no point heating them, but getting out of the shower was done quickly!!

Liked: Really lovely weekend visit. Good on- site facilities, shower, washing up station etc. Lovely walks around the lakes and very friendly staff. Will be back.

Disliked: Kept awake one night by barking dog. Believe this is the owners responsibility to not go out and leave dog alone if it barks. WiFi was a bit iffy.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Super site, new this season facility block, well kept tidy pitches, helpful and friendly staff. Some fantastic walks up the wolds a few minutes walk from the site. Also if you’re into fishing then this is the place to stay. Didn’t rate child friendly or WiFi as didn’t need either.

Liked: Super Friendly staff made us feel very welcome! The pitches are fantastic and very sheltered so that we had no issues pitching our awning in 40mph winds. Facilities are very clean. The fishing was great and almost out of the van.

Local attractions

The site edges the valleys and hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it's close to plenty of places for dog walks and day-long hiking trails – pick up the Viking Way at Claxby for exhilarating strolls in spectacular landscapes. Cyclists, meanwhile, can gear up and hit the Lindsay Trail. Lincolnshire's also got some rather fab beaches, and the nearest is at Cleethorpes (30 minutes’ drive), with its donkey rides, classic helter-skelters and seafront cafés. They're also likely to tire themselves out scrambling over rope courses at Wild Pines Park or spending time in the soft play area and bouncy castle at Hall Farm Park (both less than 15 minutes' drive). For more activities, you can bag a bargain in Louth’s antiques centres (30 minutes), or go racing at Market Rasen (10 minutes). And if you’re into history, the cute town of Caistor (10 minutes) is worth checking out for its Georgian buildings, and there are Norman churches and old iron works dotted across the Wolds.
