  • Small family-run site among five acres of green Lincs countryside
  • A mile from Sutton on Sea and within walking distance of Huttoft beach
  • Next to a riding centre and 20 minutes' drive from Skegness
Well now, this is a popular little place. 'Fab', 'beautiful' and 'brilliant' are but of a few of the plaudits that have been heaped on small, family-run and friendly South Farm Caravan Park, set deep in the Lincolnshire countryside a mile from colourful Sutton on Sea. Families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here, and dogs would likely give the farm an approving woof too: many walks are nearby along the countryside lanes and fields, and the walks – and bike rides – of the Lincolnshire Wolds are very close by. The closest beach, Huttoft or Moggs Eye, has miles of dog-friendly sands for the pooch to let loose. If you think the kids would like to canter, riding lessons and a pony club are at the equestrian centre next door to the farm; if they tend more towards a seaside vibe, Skegness is about 20 minutes away. (And if after that you tend towards a gentler vibe, the long wide open sands of peaceful Huttoft beach are within walking distance of the farm.) Facilities at the farm include spotless shower and toilet blocks (these are based away from the pitches and require a walk) and a washing-up area. There's a small tea room open at weekends only and a games room.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Location was great for us, about 15 minute walk to the beach where we could have a long walk to a seaside town. Staff friendly and helpful, toilets and showers clean. Grey waste, fresh water, electricity and recycling factory. Online restaurant, games room and washing machines. Will be booking again.

Disliked: Booking system, would likevto be able to talk to someone from the site when booking and confirming.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Welcoming hosts, clean toilets & showers, pitches flat & close to water taps.

Disliked: This site is in need of a tidy up, it has a mix of what looks like long term trailer park residents, close to the reception & toilet blocks, which are unkempt. The games room & wash room were dirty and run down. This detractors from the touring pitches which are great.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Amazing food and drinks in the tea room, the bacon butty was delicious. Lovely warm welcome when arrived and very useful information pack. Pitch was lovely and flat. Electric hook up point was only a few metres away as with the water. Toilet and showers were always clean.

Disliked: First night was peaceful and relaxing. Due to limited number of tent space when a large group with multiple tents, cars, dogs and a party gazebo it felt like a takeover and not as peacefull and relaxing as the first night.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very warm welcome, shown to our pitch and all facilities well explained. A mixture of short term and long term guests. The tea room served up a good full breakfast. Good location to get to Sutton and Mablethorpe beaches easily by car.

Disliked: Didn't dislike anything. Some of the facilities could do with updating; the toilet/shower block, the games room, the wash room, the kids playground. However, the current owners have only been around since January 2023, so there is time yet! Would definitely book again!!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: A mixed review from me. The campsite is located very close to the beach, just a 15-20 min walk across the field and you are there. There are plenty of electric hook up points as well as fresh water points. The cafe is fairly priced and looks to be very well stock from most tastes. However...

Disliked: We paid £90 for three nights, in a tent no electric. Without sounding like a snob, for that kind of money I do expect the toilet blocks to be clean, the dish washing area to be large enough to fit more than two people inside it and the "games room" to be somewhere the kids actually want to go to. It is not a very well presented games room. The reception end of the campsite looks to be long term residential caravans that have seen better days. It has the appearance of a rundown travellers site. A lot of rubbish, vans, vehicles and trailers and just stuff laying around, not really what I would expect for the price. The toilets are small and cramped and cost 50p for a 5 mins shower which is just not long enough for the girls to wash their hair etc. I think that given we were there for 3 nights, for £90 the showers should probably be included as these are the only real cost that we would create as campers.

1 bedroom apartment

Liked: The farm was easy to find very close to beaches and the perfect place to stay and relax. The three rooms were perfect for me and my child nice and private and peaceful and quiet, i loved that the patio was fenced in, it just added that element of privacy lovely place to stay

Disliked: The details to cleanliness could have been better i.e. I had to rewash all the crockery and cutlery. I was aware I had to bring linen just not my own quilt and pillows (That is probably on me though for not reading properly)

Local attractions

This is a smashing spot for family and beach hols, with both Sutton on Sea and Huttoft beaches close by for colourful beach huts at the first and a peaceful relaxing vibe at the second. Skegness is an easy drive along the coast, and Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells are also easily accessible to the north and south. Among the many other activities near the farm are the ambles and pedals of the Lincolnshire Wolds or taking day trips to Lincolnshire's small market towns like Alford, where there's also a war museum and a theatre. Bargain hunters should also get along to one of Lincolnshire's many car boot sales, at Ingoldmells, Skegness and Mablethorpe on the coast and inland at Louth, Horncastle, Gainsborough and Hornbeach.
