Hardstanding pitches

  • Peaceful adults-only site two minutes' drive from the coast
  • Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells and Skegness all within half an hour's drive
  • Spacious and level grassy pitches with spectacular countryside views
There are several reasons why Pear Tree Cottage at Poplar Farm place is so well-liked by its guests: proximity to the sea, wow-inducing views of the Lincolnshire Wolds and easy access to heaps of footpaths and bridleways that crisscross the local area and coastline. Hidden away down a private country lane and set in a level and well-maintained two-acre field, this smashing little hidey hole lies among peaceful coastal countryside and is a short drive away from several beaches and resorts along the Lincolnshire coast, including Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells and Skegness, with the nearest – Huttoft – an easy mile away. For stuff to do nearby, a spectacular seafront golf course lies around two miles away, and if you’re of the horsey persuasion, this is a good spot to base yourself for hacks along the sand and coastal bridleways, as Lincolnshire County Council permits riding on all of its beaches. The Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a short drive away too for long hikes and bike rides. When you return to Poplar Farm after a long day of seeing and doing along this area’s stunning coastline, swing by Alford, around 15 minutes’ drive away, to pick up a few bits to throw on a barbecue back at base, or give yourself a break and stick around to dine out at one of several restaurants there. Among the amenities at the site are a bathroom block with toilets and showers, and a laundry room with a tourist information area.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Quiet and peaceful. Facilities very clean and accessible. We loved the warm shower and toilet areas, as well as the option to do a clothes wash and dry.
The grounds are beautiful. Hosts Dave and Chris are lovely and helpful without being intrusive.

Disliked Sea Lane was closed to the beach. We used footpaths and it was a 3 hour walk!
The drive to the site was a little pitted.
We would have liked to have pitched our awning on grass rather than pebbles.
We did not like being told (by seemingly regular caravanners) that we were ‘in their spot’ and overhearing their analysis of other occupants. ‘When is she coming?’(pointing to the corner pitch)
‘She’s retired. She can’t work as a judge anymore.’ etc. It just felt unfriendly at this point.
It should be noted that Dave and Chris were always helpful and welcoming.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful grounds and excellent facilities which are immaculately kept. Dave is a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful owner. The site is well-placed to visit the beach at Huttoft.

Disliked We feel that the hardstanding part of the site is more suited to caravans with their own facilities (we were in a small campervan with awning) as there is only one toilet/washroom and shower (a further wet room is under construction). At times the road noise from Sea Lane and the A52 was a little intrusive and at the time of our visit a number of bird scarers were in operation, some very close to the site (we appreciate there is little the owners could do about this).

From the manager: hi thanks for your comments as you were pitched next to the toilet facilities I find it hard that you missed the second toilet the door next to the other one you used and yes we are opening another wet room for the easter break making it 1 shower and toilet per 2 pitches more than any other in the area see the photos for these details as sea lane is a unclassified road it is only used by light traffic during the day and is over 250 mts from our site also the A 52 is over 600mts from us and behind a 8ft high hedge noise is not a problem on this site as for the pitches we have no problem with caravans or motor homes using there awnings on them as we are open all year round we cannot have awnings on the grass you will find that most all year round sites do this (ie)see caravan and motor home club site on Crabtree lane Sutton springs etc

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked A small well presented site open all year round unlike many neighboring sites. Excellent, level & spacious pitches.
Stunning centrally heated & spotless toilet facilities with additional facilities under construction.
Very pleasent and chatty owners. A short walk down to Huttoft beach with miles of sand and coastal path to explore.
Would deffinately use again.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great owners- we had an issue on the roof of our caravan and the owner got a ladder and sorted it. Good size separated gravelled pitches. Amazing shower and toilet. Everything spotlessly clean

Disliked Slight traffic noise, the crow scared was very noisy but beyond the owners control

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We have just had a lovely stay at Pear Tree Cottage. We were welcomed by Dave and Chris upon arrival and shown to our pitch. The site is stunning, beautiful grounds and the pitches are a good size, so we had ample space for our campervan and awning. The showers are amazing, lovely, clean and spacious. The site is a 10 minute drive from Sutton on Sea, other places close by are Skegness, Mablethorpe and Louth. We will definitely be coming back, thank you 😊
