  • Quiet, sheltered site surrounded by countryside and fields
  • Next to the National Cycle Network Route 1
  • Communal lounge with piano, sofas, pool table, kettle and fridges
A warm welcome is very much assured at Laurel Park Campsite in south Lincolnshire, a lovely little site that's secluded and sheltered on a quiet country lane and surrounded by miles of countryside, fields and the National Cycle Network Route 1. It's also south of the Wash Nature Reserve, a wildlife haven with miles of coastal walks and many available boat trips to see seals and nesting birds. Settle down here for a highly quiet and unwinding stay – seriously, this is a most serene site… Facilities include a comfy communal lounge with sofas, a piano, pool table, board games, table tennis, dens, a toddlers' play area, a book lending library and a kettle, fridges and microwave, as well as a games field. The site shop is well stocked with food and camping essentials, gift and thrift items and affordable ice creams. Also on site is a herd of adorable, friendly guinea pigs for guests to meet, help feed and pet. Amenities at Laurel Park include toilets and free electric showers, two chemical disposal points, a washing-up area with free hot water, laundry facilities, Calor gas sales, ice pack freezing and recycling facilities. Pick up supplies at the market town of Long Sutton five minutes' drive away, which has shops, pubs, banks, takeaways (some of which will deliver to the site) and a market on Fridays; more supplies and shops, including big supermarkets, are in Holbeach around five miles away.

Laurel Park is highly recommended by visitors for its friendly, attentive owners and excellent facilities. Guests enjoyed the clean environment, spacious pitches, and the opportunity to interact with the animals, particularly the twice-daily feeding sessions. The site is described as peaceful, well-maintained, and perfect for families, with communal areas and games offering entertainment. While minor concerns were raised about the number of family bathrooms and Wi-Fi availability, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked We really liked this campsite as it was a good size without being too big and there were different areas rather than one field. The field was also enclosed within a high hedge keeping the area sheltered. Whilst there we found our stay very relaxing and peaceful. There is a fenced off area with a wildlife meadow on one half and a small football pitch for children on the other side - our children enjoyed this (b10 & g9), but they absolutely loved the games shed where they went to play pool and play on the piano.
One of the special things about the site is that there is a large Guinea Pig hutch and the children were invited to go in the morning for feeding time. I walked past and found them all sitting quietly with a Guinea Pig on their laps having strokes and breakfast.
The facilities at the site are well cleaned and cared for and we didn’t have to wait for either the toilet, shower or sinks for washing up.
We found the hosts to be extremely welcoming and helpful, suggesting a dog friendly beach that we went to and being available if needed.
All in all a great stay that we wished we had booked for longer. My daughter has asked if we can come again in April 🙂

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback.

We created the small play park for under 5 year olds, as we felt there were already so many things for older kids:- ping pong, ball playing paddock, tree dens, pool table, guinea pig feeding, etc.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The place was lovely and clean, the owners are doing a great job, was very friendly and polite Great for our 2 puppies. Facilities were ample enough for the site, we didn’t need to wait too long if was in use. May visit again in the near future but we like to explore and try new places

Disliked Little bit noisy with the generator, which was unfortunately by where we was pitched, we did understand it was out of their Control. Same with the farming very noisy early and late hours as their fields are right next to the campsites . They could have had a little time off on the bank holiday Monday (again we understood).

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay here.

Regarding the generator - as you mentioned, this was outside our control. The national grid installed hundreds of them around the area to provide power to hundreds of homes and businesses whilst doing major infrastructure upgrades. The generator was outside our property boundaries, and served 3 other properties as well - we had no say in where it went or when. It was frustrating for us, but luckily was fairly quiet.

As for farmers and farming equipment, yes we are bordered on 2 sides by fields, which does mean occasional tractors, etc. We honestly don't notice them any more! And I am afraid farmers never take time off! ;-D

Local attractions

The Wash has the biggest nature reserve in England, made up of sand and mud landscapes, salt marshes, waters and sandbank islands visible at low tide. It's probably best known for its seals and has the biggest single colony of common seals in Europe at Seal Island; visit in June or July to see the new pups. Market town Spalding is a good day out, particularly at its Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre, as is a day among the medieval architecture and many museums of historic King's Lynn. Wisbech, its brewery, gardens and maze is about 20 minutes' drive away, and Hunstanton and Skegness are less than an hour away. Other beaches are well within reach with less than a 45-minute drive. Many visitors to this part of the country also go to the royal estate of Sandringham to see the house, museum, gardens and the parish church of St Mary Magdalene.
