General

  • Quiet and sheltered site surrounded by walking and cycling trails
  • By National Cycle Network Route I
  • Communal lounge with piano, sofas, pool table and TV/DVD player

A warm welcome is very much assured at Laurel Park Campsite in south Lincolnshire, a lovely little site that's secluded and sheltered on a quiet country lane and surrounded by miles of walking and cycling trails including the National Cycle Network Route I.

It's also south of the Wash Nature Reserve, a wildlife haven with miles of coastal walks and many available boat trips to see seals and nesting birds. Settle down here for a highly quiet and unwinding stay – seriously, this is a most serene site...

Facilities include a comfortable communal lounge with sofas, TV and DVD player, a piano, pool table, games, Tassimo coffee machine and communal freezer, as well as a book & DVD lending library. The site shop is well stocked with food and camping essentials, gift and thrift items, frozen foods and ice creams.

Also on site is a small menagerie of animals for guests to meet: help feed, walk or pet the miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, chickens and rabbits, or help walk the donkeys and goats.

Amenities at Laurel Park include toilets and free electric showers, two chemical disposal points, a washing-up area with free hot water, laundry facilities, a mobile phone recharging point, Calor gas sales, ice pack freezing and recycling facilities.

Pick up supplies at the market town of Long Sutton two miles away, which has shops, pubs, banks, takeaways and a market on Fridays; more supplies and shops are in Spalding about 12 miles away.

Please note

Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The glamping tent was lovely and comfortable, nice beds, and very clean and tidy. Having the animals there was a treat, and my younger child really enjoyed having the opportunity to help with feeding and walking the donkeys. The owners are really friendly and welcoming, and even though we arrived late on Friday night they took the time to show us around and to have a chat. The communal area is great for the kids, with pool table, games and even a tv and dvd player for if the weather's poor. Plenty of space around the tent for games, and for the children to roam. All in all a lovely relaxing stay.

I was awake from about 5am both days when the chickens made it known that they were awake and hungry! I didn't mind the first morning, it was nice to be up and about early but I was so tired the second morning, I would have loved a little lie in! This would discourage me from staying for longer. I think maybe the glamping tents could be moved to a quieter space to avoid the early morning wake up call! Also, I think during busy periods the lack of facilities might become an issue - only one shower each for male and female; there may be a bit of a queue mid-summer.

We absolutely loved this site. Our daughters loved being able to feed the animals and play the many games in the well stocked communal area. Delivery of pizzas to our pitch on Saturday evening was a real treat and very useful when you’re only camping for one night. Great hosts. Thank you. We will definitely return.

Excellent relaxed friendly clean site with family friendly activities 08/07/2019

Firstly the lovely welcome! The couple came over to our cars when we pulled up on the driveway. We felt they welcomed us like new friends to their home which we haven’t felt on a campsite before. They were focussed on our requirements and offering any help.

The cleanliness of the entire site was refreshing. It is so peaceful, clean and lovingly thought out that it rapidly aids your relaxation, the stress melted away.

The animals are a great sight to see. The ability to access goats, large rabbits, donkeys and chickens was lovely, there are signs to let campers know when the animals will be fed etc each day if anyone wants to meet and feed them with the owners too. The miniature donkeys stole the show for us, when seeing us all they would happily come over for a fuss, they loved our dogs too!
The family live on the site so are always about and are happy to stop, help and chat if you require anything. They keep all Facilities in excellent condition.

It is clear this couple make a great team and that they have thought long and hard about how they wish their site to be and have put their hearts into every part. From their lovely shop, their excellent provisions in the games room, their obvious care of their site, their customers and their animals and the humorous or thought provoking messages and signs around the site and the hidden children’s tree dens to the open space, socialising areas and future plans. This site is one we all loved (couple 40’s children 6 &14) and we will certainly be returning too.

I have a brain injury and their thoughtful questions before I arrived, via email were both respectful and productive, it clearly showed they think of each individual booking customer before they even arrive on site. Their biggest concern was if their site wasn’t able to provide for my needs so were checking before hand.
This couple went above and beyond repeatedly. I forgot mid conversation what I was saying they casually refocused me so well it was only after that I realised they had done it. Thank you.

Great campsite. The owners were friendly and attentive - it had a real family feel to it and we were made to feel very welcome. A quiet and secluded spot. The children loved the animals and the 'chill out area". The toilet and shower facilities were on the small side but they were clean and functional.

The Location: Quiet and set in beautiful countryside; it was a half way stop between us and the seaside, which we visited on Saturday. The site is so well sheltered by the trees.

The site is so child-friendly: With chickens, pygmy goats, rabbits, mini-donkeys, dog and cat (plus lots of wildlife). Our children loved the animals, and the communal lounge. It gave them a great opportunity to enjoy the relative freedom of the countryside and to play with other children.

The owners: Andy and Emma were so friendly and welcoming, and interesting to talk to. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made our stay so memorable. The children learned a lot from them, Emma showed them the herbs and vegetables that grow there, and they were encouraged to get involved with caring for the animals. The donkey-walk was lovely. On the Saturday night we enjoyed their delicious homemade pizzas (which they made vegan for us at no extra cost).

The facilities: Us adults loved the fact we had clean toilet facilities and a good washing up area, a nice big pitch, a well-stocked little shop and a very chilled out vibe to the place.

Andy & Emma have only owned the site for half a year and we can't wait to see what the future holds for them, I would highly recommend this site to everyone and we will definitely be returning again and again.

Local attractions

The Wash has the biggest nature reserve in England, made up of sand and mud landscapes, salt marshes, waters and sandbank islands visible at low tide. It's probably best known for its seals and has the biggest single colony of common seals in Europe at Seal Island; visit in June or July to see the new pups.

Market town Spalding is a good day out, particularly at its Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre, as is a day among the medieval architecture and many museums of historic King's Lynn.

Wisbech, its brewery, gardens and maze is about 25 minutes' drive away, and Hunstanton and Skegness are less than an hour away.

Many visitors to this part of the country also go to the royal estate of Sandringham, Queen Liz's Norfolk pad, to see the house, museum, gardens and the parish church of St Mary Magdalene.
