  • A 30-acre dog-friendly site a five-minute drive from Burgh le Marsh
  • Skegness and the coast 10 minutes’ drive; Louth half an hour
  • Four well-stocked fishing lakes; dog walks around the park perimeter
Feeling ready for some vitamin sea? Pull in at Sycamore Lakes Touring Site in Lincolnshire, 10 minutes' drive away from the Skegness seafront. There’s also a bus stop just outside the park with hourly buses to Skegness if you don’t want to get behind the wheel for such a short trip. You’ll hardly have to drive if you don’t fancy it, as the pitches also have access to a footpath through the back fields to the village of Burgh le Marsh. In the village, there is a heritage centre with a windmill and a restaurant, butchers, a post office, a bakery, pubs and a few small shops. It’ll take you under 20 minutes to get there on foot. Just watch, as a day can fly by at Sycamore Lakes Touring Site. The 30 acres of well-landscaped grounds have hundreds of mature trees and five lakes, including four well-stocked fishing lakes. There are excellent dog walks around the park perimeter and to the village. The grounds also have The Lakes Restaurant, which is already popular with locals. If you do want to scout out what’s further afield, there are five golf courses within a short drive of the site. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is a 20-minute drive away, and it’s a five-minute drive to the very edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape, which has pretty villages and stunning walks.

Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked Staff very friendly & helpful, site is immaculate, food & service at the restaurant excellent

Disliked No fault of the site, but parents need to take responsibility for their children-crashing into our tent on electric bikes, throwing rubbish into & around the duck pond. The site has no play area, so they need to be entertained at the many attractions (beach, arcades etc) in the area

Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked We don't liked at all. People are horrible around the pich

Disliked Very disappointed. Was talking on the phone before ours visit, we did ask for pitch beside fishing lake , they agreed but when we arrived they said that its no pitches near the fishing lakes at all . They give us a pitch near decorative lake, that you not aloud to fish. Also they ask us pay for fishing, but was nothing saying on the website and nothing said when we talk with them at arrived time. People around us was horrible to us, was coming in our pitch area and checking or we doing something wrong. Also when we was walking with dog and a child around small lake , people beside lake don't let us pased, men was looking to us and don't want to move , after we pass from his site , he make horrible comment. I was camping a lot of places but nothing like here. Feels like they all racists, was very unpleasant. Never , never again.....

Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked Toilet/shower blocks were very clean. The pitch was close to the blocks. Very peaceful and quiet.

Disliked Could do with some plug sockets in the shower blocks.
A little on-site shop would be beneficial.
Even though I paid for the WiFi, it didn’t work :-(

Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked Convenient access to get to Skegness. Spacious pitch. Friendly reception. Nice restaurant and bar area (but have to sit outside with dogs).

Disliked The toilet block (only one for the whole site) seemed tired and was constantly messy/ dirty lacking toilet roll. The bins were over flowing. There was goose mess was everywhere (can’t be helped) No barrier to get on or off site so anyone could come and go as they pleased. Noise from the neighbouring camp site ran late in to sat evening. Not having a dog walking field or somewhere to exercise off lead and we only found one dog poo bin down by reception. Electric is £20 deposit not an issue as you get this back, we’ve used pre paid cards before but others sites give you your rebate on electricity not used, this site didn’t so assume they pocket the difference. Clearly set up for fishing, statics and seasonal pitches.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to submit a review of our site and mentioning how friendly the staff were etc.
However I feel I feel that it is only right to address the negative side of your review if I may.
The restaurant does in fact allow dogs, there are designated tables just inside the restaurant and of course they are allowed outside on the veranda.
Our staff work very hard to keep our amenity block clean and tidy and are cleaned twice daily, unfortunately we occasionally find that some of our guests do take toilet rolls with them when they leave and do not always leave the amenities as they find them.
The noise from the neighbouring camp has been addressed and it was unfortunate that this happened on the weekend you were here am afraid.
We are a wild life friendly site so the goose mess will happen!
We also do not advertise having a dog walk where dogs can be exercised off the lead so am unsure why your expectations were that there would be one? There are dog poo bins at reception and two more on the touring site, maybe you missed them.
The barrier was unfortunately down for repair which is currently being addressed
We do inform guests on arrival that money for electric not used will not be refunded and to monitor the usage as you go I can assure you that this rule is not in place for the site to ' pocket the money'
We are a fishing site and we do have privately owned statics and seasonal pitches, however we are not set up exclusively for those, in fact we have tourers and tent owners who return regularly and are highly satisfied with the services we provide in fact we recently received an award for the highest reviews from Pitch Up themselves.
Maybe our site is not designed for your needs, we wish you well in finding one that does.
Thanks again for your review.

Local attractions

In addition to wide expanses of sand, Skegness (10 minutes' drive) has the seafront Pleasure Beach, an amusement park with a Ferris wheel and thrill rides. If roller coasters are not your speed, try the attractions at Skegness Pier (from escape rooms to climbing walls), or head to Natureland Seal Sanctuary, where you can also see penguins and meerkats. With a thrice-weekly market, lively Louth (half an hour) is a good spot to stock up on artisanal foodstuffs. Just west of the town is Hubbard’s Hills, a lush park popular for picnics on the banks of the River Lud. Louth is also the gateway to the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape. The university city of Lincoln (an hour) has an imposing Gothic cathedral dating back to the 11th century, and a castle commissioned by William the Conqueror. Walk along the ramparts for splendid views of the city, or climb up the appropriately named Steep Hill, a cobbled street lined with stone cottages and independent shops.
