  • Spacious adults-only site in the Lincolnshire Wolds, with fishing pond
  • Within 40 minutes' drive of medieval Lincoln and Mablethorpe beach
  • Bicycle hire on site; pub with food five minutes' drive away
Tucked into the Lincolnshire countryside, Little Owls Caravan and Camping is a memorable outdoor experience 15 minutes' drive from Market Rasen. Set over 12 acres of level, well-drained paddocks, this peaceful, adults-only spot has an array of facilities, including a washing-up area, a chemical disposal point and a water and waste point, along with a luxury shower and toilet block and a laundry facility. Stretch out, enjoy the peace and the views, and listen out for the plentiful population of local owls. Tucked away among all this, there's also a fishing pond, which guests can use for an extra charge. Suited to folks who want a quiet getaway, the site is keen to make the site as peaceful an experience as possible. Leave the bike rack at home, too, as high-quality bicycles can be hired directly from the site reception for gentle rides to the local pub or a more wild trail adventure. A pub with food is a five-minute drive away (or 10-minute cycle) in South Kelsey, and further options for eating, drinking and stocking up are in Market Rasen. Market Rasen is at the top of the 69-mile Lindsey Trail, a combination of paths, bike tracks and bridleways through Domesday-book villages and even older woodlands, past Tennyson's birthplace and Neolithic long barrows down to nature-filled wetlands.

Liked Exceptionally clean and modern facilities. Lovely quiet site, no road noise and very peaceful. You will see pheasants, moorhens and hear owls at night!
Drainage of site good even after torrential rain and storm. Close enough to supermarket/market Rasen to drive. Big field near reception to walk the dog.

Disliked Nothing to dislike other than no security barrier.

From the manager: Thank you Lauren for your great review, we are pleased that you enjoyed our quiet site, the facilities and the wildlife roaming around.

In response to your comment about a security barrier, we are in the process of having security gates fitted, you may have noticed the gate posts already in the ground at the entrance, we hope to have the work completed very soon.

Liked This is a beautiful rural and peaceful site. At night just the occasional hoot of an owl. I camped in the top field and there was plenty of space to spread out. As a female on my own (+ dog) I felt perfectly safe. The site is very well kept and all the facilities were spotless. I intend to return to explore this lovely area more.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely campsite, peaceful and well maintained. Excellent shower and toilet block with 3 toilets and 2 showers per gender, which were cleaned daily. 2 sinks for washing pots. Lots of info and leaflets about the local area. Lots of wildlife about, rabbits, owls and lots of birds. Hosts were great at communicating.

Disliked Only thing missing for us was a freezer to freeze ice packs

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a beautiful hidden gem this site is. You can pitch where you like and there is plenty of space to spread out. The facilities are excellent - the toilets and showers are fantastic. The site is quiet.
There's plenty to do near by including a trip to the seaside. The wifi on site is amazing and what a bonus. Jonathan the owner was lovely and very accommodating. I will definitely be returning.

Disliked We camped during a heatwave and for non electric pitches there is virtually no shade. There is shade where the electric pitches are. This would definitely not put me off camping here as you can create shade.

Local attractions

The Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape is big on views and full of bumper opportunities for walking and cycling. Market Rasen, whose weekly markets have been a crowd puller since medieval times, is also a handy point to join bigger bike routes like the Viking Way from Humber Bay to Oakham and the coastal Hull to Harwich path. If you prefer watching others do the running, the racecourse has fixtures all year. For the beach, beetle over to Cleethorpes (40 minutes) for all the sand and candy-floss-fuelled stuff seaside trips are made of. Quieter Mablethorpe is an hour away, with a population of seals in the nearby sanctuary and slides as well as cyclone spinning wheels at the indoor Aquapark. For historic days out, loaf over to Lincoln (half an hour) to see the 11th-century castle, 12th-century cathedral and its town centre of steep winding alleys. The International Bomber Command Centre (40 minutes) records and remembers the part Lincolnshire played in World War II, and at a similar distance, Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre explains a still-living but much changed local way of life. It’s a fine place for fish and chips too.
