  • Overnight hardstanding pitches just outside the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Walking distance from Hubbard’s Hills; half-hour drive to the coast
  • A short walk from Louth town centre for shops and pubs
On the search for somewhere to stop over on your walking and cycling fiesta in the Lincolnshire Wolds? Just outside the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Louth Livestock Market may be your next port of call. This site has dog-friendly hardstanding pitches for overnight parking in a residential area within walking distance of Louth, a Georgian market town that’s a magnet for foodie and history fans alike. You should be safe and secure here, as the spacious, free-allocation pitches are hidden away behind a padlocked gate. The site provides fresh water top-ups and grey water waste disposal facilities, but there should be no sunloungers, awnings, freestanding solar panels or generators, washing lines, canopies or windbreaks (levelling ramps and steps are allowed). Perhaps you might want to call your visit a pub stopover, as there’s one pub alongside the bottom end of the site and several others (plus restaurants and shops) a short walk away. And what about market days? The site runs a weekly working livestock market every Monday and the occasional Friday, so you’re welcome to drop in. The area is cleaned after market day, so you won’t have to worry about any mess. As this is a stopover site, there’s 24-hour access. All information, including the gate’s code, is sent over upon booking and the site has wifi too so you may plot out your next route. However, this site is for self-contained motorhomes or campervans only (with onboard toilets, water and waste disposal, as there are none here) and barbecues or cooking aren’t permitted outside the vehicles. Guests are also asked to leave no rubbish and be respectful of local residents.

Local attractions

Got a soft spot for the seaside? You’ll be in for a classic resort-style day out in Mablethorpe (half an hour’s drive), Sutton on Sea (half an hour) or Skegness (35 minutes), whether it’s fairground rides, donkey rides or canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing out to sea. You’ll be well based to give your walking boots a good workout around here too, with the sloping trails around Hubbard's Hills (20 minutes’ walk) or some of the many paths you could follow around the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes’ drive) If history's something you want to dabble in while you’re on holiday, check out St James' Church (10 minutes’ walk) in Louth or head to Bolingbroke Castle (half an hour's drive), a proper spot for hide and seek around 13th-century castle ruins.

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Plenty of space and hard standing Short walk from shops cafes and pubs

Disliked: Never did get gate code e mailed but luckily the gate never got closed It was a Saturday afternoon so maybe that's why. Now I love music but I'm guessing one of the local pubs had music but not music I enjoyed. It was a constant thud from Lunch time until 11pm There was a blue van kept coming and going but not appearing to do anything and it was disconcerting as they appeared to be just hanging around I never actually found the water tap but luckily I never ran out either

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Just had an overnight stay at the Cattle Market Louth. Easy to book. Lovely customer service. £10 fabulous cost. Gated for security. Hard standing as in the Cattle Market car park. The area was clean. No facilities but we have our own facilities so this wasn’t a problem. Fabulous for space, quietness and locality to the main area of Louth. We will definitely book again due to the convenience of the car park.

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Level standing and near the town centre but very quiet. The site is just as described, very basic with the only facilities being freshwater and the grey water dumping point. I’ve parked on the concrete near the kettle pens as it wasn’t a market day, but I think you would need to check out when the markets are held before you decide where to park. There are plenty of other places away from the cattle, pens, There’s a Wetherspoons pub. If you turn right out of the gate then take the second road on your right. The pub is about 50 yards on your left.
