  • Smart and spacious Lincolnshire lodges with private hot tubs
  • A 10-minute drive to the coast; 15 minutes to Louth and the Wolds
  • Five-acre fishing lake on site, filled with around 150 quality carp
It’s about a 10-minute drive to the Lincolnshire coast from here, and 15 minutes to Louth or the Lincolnshire Wolds… and yet neither of these is likely to be the main attraction for guests at Fieldview Fishery. The highlight for guests here is of course the fishing facility – a fabulous five-acre lake that’s home to around 150 carp weighing up to 35lb and all home grown and hand selected by the owner, a keen angler and fish farm owner with around 20 years of experience. In fact, he dug out the lake too, creating large variations in the features and depths to provide plenty of interest for experienced anglers (the weedy nature of the lake means it’s not really suitable for novices). You’ll have plenty of space to enjoy the fishing, too, with only six anglers allowed on the lake at any time – three from each lodge. Others in your party can cosy up inside the lodge, which has a comfy open-plan living space, a well-equipped kitchen and a smart modern bathroom as well as the generously sized bedrooms. Alternatively, they can make the most of the fresh air and lovely views by relaxing in the outdoor space, kitted out with furniture, a barbecue and a fabulous hot tub. When you’re not fishing, you can be out exploring the area – perhaps heading to the coast to wander through the dunes and go seal spotting, or turning inland to poke around at the indie shops in Louth or take long walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Closer to home there’s a tea room a mile away in the village of Saltfleetby and a butcher and convenience store in Grimoldby (five minutes’ drive).

Local attractions

The Lincolnshire coast has a lot to offer, whether you’re up for a quiet walk through the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes National Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive), a livelier beach day in Mablethorpe (15 minutes) or wildlife watching at the Donna Nook Grey Seal Colony (20 minutes). Away from the coast, Louth (15 minutes) is a nice place for a wander, as is the National Trust’s Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens (half an hour). For longer rambles or bike rides, head into the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape. Kids in tow? The Wolds Wildlife Park (half an hour) and Fantasy Island theme park (40 minutes) are always popular, or you could try the Lincolnshire Aquapark (10 minutes). For more grownup days out, try Louth Distillery (15 minutes), the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre (45 minutes) or one of the area’s many golf courses.
