  • Well-kept pop-up site on the edge of Aubourn village in Lincolnshire
  • Lincoln Water Park 10 minutes’ drive; Newark Castle 20 minutes
  • Off-grid with direct access to dog walks; pub five minutes’ stroll
Surrounded by pretty Lincolnshire countryside, Aubourn Estate is a pop-up site in the grounds of the 17th-century Aubourn Hall, which has extensive gardens occasionally open to the public between April to October. Staying here also puts you close to historic Lincoln and lots of family activities including fishing, golf and a water park. There’s plenty of room around the spacious, level and neatly mown camping field for families to kick a ball around. Stays here are also spot on for anyone wanting to enjoy peaceful walks around the Aubourn Estate’s 2,500 acres of farmland and woodland. Dogs are welcome too, so they can join in your daily perambulations, which may well lead you down to the pub in Aubourn village (five minutes’ walk), known for its delicious food and takeaways (closed Mondays). Back on site, there’s a firepit and picnic benches for you to gather around and eat alfresco on warmer days. Other simple amenities include a portable toilet, chemical waste disposal and a supply of fresh drinking water, but there are no showers or electricity. This place is also strictly for guests who revel in the quietude of a rural village location – so no noise please between the hours of 10pm and 7am.

What customers say

This is a spacious, peaceful campsite in a lovely village setting, ideal for those happy with basic, off-grid facilities. Guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and the convenience of a traditional pub just a short walk away. While pitches offer flexibility and the estate manager is helpful, some found the portaloo cleanliness could be improved and directions were challenging. Despite limited amenities, many would return due to the value and location.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Very quiet field in a lovely town. Nice pub close by. No facilities other than a portaloo, water, rubbish bin and grey water dump, but we didn't need anything more - hard to grade stars as no facilities so no cleanliness etc. - grass was short LOL

Disliked Directions need to be updated and didn't get welcome email with gate lock numbers on until the morning - too late. Although phoned an out of hours mobile and the man directed us to the field and gave the number. No signal in the field for me though - plus or bonus?

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked There is lots of space and you can choose your own pitch. Easy enough to find a level pitch although the field is on a slope. It's a quiet site in a peaceful area on the edge of a lovely village and within walking distance of a pub. We stayed one night (Saturday) when visiting friends in the area and there was only one other camper van there.

We watched a stoat trotting across the bottom of the field.

Disliked Facilities are limited but we knew that before we went.

Tip: if the toilet door appears to be locked but you know it's not occupied just give the door a firm pull to open it.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely quiet location convenient to visit Lincoln. Nice friendly pub 5 minutes walk away with good cask ales and tasty pub meals. Huge field to pick your pitch. Ground reasonably level and suitable for a campervan. Basic amenities provided but all as described. Friendly estate manager checks all is ok and available if any problems. Very quiet at night. Recommended.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very very spacious, views were amazing and underrated on the website so was a nice surprise. Peaceful and a quiet atmosphere. Lovely area so felt very safe.
We also realised uber eats can be delivered which is amazing!! & signal.

Disliked The toilet was just a port-a- loo which is fine but if staying for longer, a better facility for that would probably be better.
It was also a struggle to find so pictures could help with directions?

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked I understand that I was the first person to stay on this site - and at first I struggled to find it due to the lack of other tents. Sat nav took me rather out of the way, using the address given, and I eventually found it using What 3 Words, and seeking confirmation from locasl. Anyhow, once there I found myself alone in a large field for the night, in my tiny tent, and it was good. The estate have provided a tap for drinking water, portaloo, chem waste disposal and bin on one side of the site. On an adjacent side there's a picnic bench and fire pit made of bricks. There's a pub 5 minutes' walk away where I had a decent meal and some decent beer. Other pubs are available in Bassingham, about a 40 minute walk away, should you fancy the stroll. It's a little hard to give a detailed review of a site that's so new and had nobody else on it, but I'm sure it will prove popular. It's very convenient for the Newark Showground, Lincoln, etc, and being adults only, should hopefully remain quite chilled out.

From the manager: Thanks you so much for this helpful feedback. I have now added a map to our pre-arrival information and some directions to make sure future guests will find us more easily. We will put a sign up on site soon too, which should be a help. Sorry about the loo being locked - this was an oversight but it is now open and ready for use. We hope to welcome you back again.
