  • In the Lincolnshire Wolds with views across 40 acres of farmland
  • A 15-minute drive from Cleethorpes and a 15-minute walk to Waltham
  • Fishing on site and local walks straight from the grounds
Set as it is on the edges of the Lincolnshire Wolds and a 15-minute drive from Cleethorpes, a stay at Prospect Farm is indeed full of possibilities – whether that’s walks in the wilderness or saunters on sandy beaches. The chances of angling for your supper are also high, seeing as a well-stocked fishing lake sits on the park’s grounds… And if you'd rather course for creatures at the coast? Go crabbing at the beaches of Cleethorpes or get on the water by renting a rowing craft and gliding across the town’s boating lake. Cleethorpes is also a cracking spot for sporty sea-based endeavours ranging from paddleboarding and windsurfing to kayaking and sailing. Inland towns to have some urban times at include Louth, Caistor and Market Rasen with their listed buildings (all 25 minutes’ drive away); make sure to check when market days fall, so you can flit from stall to stall picking up handmade arts and crafts as well as artisan food. After scoring spoils, head back to base – sorting supper enroute at the grocery shops, pubs or restaurants of Waltham a 15-minute walk down the road – and sit as the sun goes down across a splendid setting made up of 40 acres of fields, horse paddocks and a duck pond. Swerve by the village windmill on your way home too; despite dating back to the 19th century this Dutch-style structure’s vanes are still twirling.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nice flat field, easy pitching. Nice peaceful place. Peter the warden came to greet us the moment we arrived and pointed out all the things we needed to know, he even came over half way through our stay to ask if everything thing was ok.

Disliked: No internet which isn't a problem for me but my daughter is emotional attached, luckily I had enough data to share with her therefore disaster averted.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Perfect location. The site is well placed for a visit to Cleethorpes or shopping in Grimsby but is in lovely countryside. The showers and toilets, although only two toilets and one shower were not too busy and kept very clean by the warden. Plenty of room for kids to play away from campers and safe for a walk. The pitch size was very good and the 16amp electric hookup a bonus. Finally the Warden, Peter could not have been more helpful. He keeps the site in a clean and tidy fashion and is on hand should you require any help. A very nice man who added to the sites lovely atmosphere. Thank you Peter for making our short break even better. See you soon!

Disliked: Nothing.

Local attractions

Those not swung by the idea of whizzing across the ocean at Cleethorpes can try less strenuous activities like crazy golf and donkey rides (or the even less taxing pastime of finding a restaurant for a meal with a view…). Can’t get enough of beachy destinations like Cleethorpes? The classic seaside towns of Mablethorpe (45 minutes) and Skegness (55 minutes) are also within driving distance of the site. Alternatively, cruise along a calmer section of the coast by coming in the cooler months and seeking out the seals on the salt marshes of Donna Nook (half an hour’s drive) or skirting the shoreline at any time of year looking for some of Lincolnshire’s more serene beaches. Rather opt for a revved-up activity? Zoom towards Cadwell Park on race days (half an hour from the park) to visit the famed motor circuit. Or if you prefer pootling along on two feet, the Viking Way passes through Caistor, around 15 minutes’ drive from the site and runs for 147 miles between Oakham in Rutland and the Humber Bridge in north Lincolnshire.
