  • Quiet family park 20 minutes’ walk from the beach in Lincolnshire
  • Fantasy Island five minutes’ drive; Skegness 10 minutes
  • Fishing lakes, tackle shop and halotherapy room on site
What could be better than a seaside break in a glamping pod? A seaside break in a glamping pod with private fishing right outside, perhaps? With a peaceful Lincolnshire location on the edge of Chapel St Leonards and 20 minutes’ walk from the beach, the pods have views over Horse Shoe Lake as well as exclusive-use fishing pegs right outside the door. Each unit has a verandah overlooking the water, and glass doors to take in the views when inside. Cosy accommodation includes double and twin beds, a comfy sofa for nights in front of the TV, and well-equipped modern kitchens. Now back to the fishing… At the four well-stocked lakes, you can cast for carp, roach, rudd, tench and pike. Overnight angling is available as well, and there’s an on-site tackle shop for all your fishy needs. If someone in your party is just not that into fishing, that's no problem – they can have a wander around the lake shores (taking any doggie pals they might have with them, of course), bask in the halotherapy salt room, or head to Chapel St Leonards beach for a bit of a stroll in the fresh sea air. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in town too, so it's an easy walk to somewhere that you can nurse a pint or pick up some fish and chips.

Local attractions

When a day by the sea is just what’s called for, you can be on sands at Chapel St Leonards beach within 20 minutes’ walk, or stroll along the promenade for several miles in either direction – it forms part of the England Coast Path. For livelier days out, Skegness (10 minutes’ drive) has amusement arcades, ten-pin bowling and a small waterpark to keep the kids happy. Another good bet for families, Mablethorpe beach (25 minutes) is close to cafés, fish and chip shops and a fairground. Spoil your well-behaved offspring with spins on the rides at Fantasy Island, or take them go karting at Skegness Raceway. Younger kids mostly adore the cuddly sheep and goats at Hardy’s Animal Farm (all five minutes), and there are endangered big cats to spot and parrots to feed at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (half an hour). Keen to learn more about local wildlife? Look around the exhibitions in the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point (five minutes), and take a pair of binos to spy warblers and grebes nesting among the coastal reeds. Nursing injured seals back to health is the remit at Natureland Seal Sanctuary (10 minutes), where you can feed seal pups in the rearing pool.
