General

  • Exceptionally-maintained site in Lincolnshire
  • Spotless facilities including eco-friendly shower and toilet
  • Generously sized grass and hardstanding pitches

Start as you mean to go on, sensibly thought owners Phil and Jane when building Wold’s View Touring Park in 2013 on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with the aim of developing a site using the most up to date facilities to tempt guests back for years.

They think they can declare their vision a success: ‘first class’, ‘the best we’ve stopped on’, ‘faultless’ and ‘the best site we have found in 10 years’ are among the homages heaped upon their heads by grateful guests for Wold’s View’s customer service, spotless facilities and added little touches.

Everything on the four-acre site is brand spanking new: an eco-friendly shower and loo block with good-sized cubicles, underfloor heating, plenty of free hot water, basin, hand dryers and air source heat pump. The site's four water points all have heating elements so guests can pitch up all year round without frozen tap woes.

Barnets and beards can be kept brand spankingly smart with the addition of hairdryers and shaver points, and clothes with a coin-operated commercial washer dryer in the on-site launderette. Dishwashing facilities are in the laundry area and there’s an additional guests’ room with underfloor heating, a small rentable fridge freezer and boot racks.

For eats, the comfy coffee house serves breakfast, hot drinks, ice cream and homemade cakes, and the small shop at the reception sells camping essentials, Calor gas, fresh eggs, cold drinks and local Roe Farm ice cream. To keep in touch with those back home, wifi is free around the amenities building and can be accessed for a charge on site: passwords and full instructions will be given upon arrival

Caistor is 15 minutes’ walk away with a Spar, Co-op, several local takeaways including fish and chips, Italian, Chinese and Indian, the Settlement restaurant and meals served in the Heritage Centre and White Hart pub.

Wold’s View Touring Park welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs per pitch if kept on leads and a small exercise area is available on site for pooches to stretch their legs.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The site is closed on Wednesdays: arrivals and departures by prior arrangement only.

Good price, beautifully kept site, absolutely immaculate facilities, helpful and friendly staff. Wolds is a beautiful area to explore. Adults only site, so was peaceful. Short drive to village which has very good pubs, coop, takeaways.
Bearing in mind the price, the paid-for electricity (which we had reservations about beforehand) was a negligible cost (about a pound a night for us) - and is really not a downside.

Brilliant site with clean amenities. Large pitches and dog friendly 25/08/2017

It was the first time we stayed here and the hosts were very welcoming, even let us on early when we arrived over 2 hours early! We were shown to our pitch (which exceeded expectations we could have got 2 of our large tent on it easily) and given instructions on how to use the electricity meter and the code for a gate which kept the site secure. The site was very clean as were all the amenities, even had under floor heating in the showers with the radio on in the daytime. There was a laundry room that had sinks where we could wash our dishes and a washer and dryer for our clothes. Overall it was just the place we were looking for nice and peaceful (no-one keeping beady eyes on you all the time just in case you did do something wrong) and it made it better that it was dog friendly too.

Jane and Phil are the best, most friendly and welcoming hosts you could wish to meet. The site is clean, tidy and well laid out and the toilet block is spotless. Reasonable rates too and the adults only site makes it a great kids free zone. If you go you have got to try the full Lincolnshire Breakfast, perfect! Waistlines did not allow cake sampling but they looked home made and delicious. The coffee house staff are friendly too. Do not pass this site by, a gem!

    Disliked:

Site a little open, might benefit from a few hedges and or shrubs to make pitches a bit more personal but this is a minor criticism.

Everything! The warmest welcome, great amenities. The toilets, shower and wash up areas were PERFECT completely immaculate. It poured with rain for two solid nights and not a spot of mud so the area is obviously well drained. The Cafe although we didn't go looked lovely. Staff were always on hand and even dismantled the bathroom sink when I lost an earring! Nothing was too much trouble.

    Absolutely recommend!

Local attractions

Phil and Jane didn’t build the location of Wold’s View Touring Park, but that's probably had something to do with the customer accolades too – right by the Lincolnshire Wolds, on the edge of Caistor and within 25 minutes’ drive of Cleethorpes, Louth and Lincoln.

There’s much to be had in the immediate area if you’re sticking close to site, like fishing available right next door or lessons at the Caistor Equestrian Centre within a mile. Wandering the Lincolnshire Wolds from Wold’s View is a piece of cake too (bring some cake from the campsite coffee kitchen): either traipse forth from camp without much of a plan/route or follow the Viking Way crossing through Caistor on its 147-mile journey from the Humber Bridge in north Lincolnshire to Oakham in Rutland.

The four-mile circular walk from Caistor to Nettleton is an easy amble, but if you’re saying pffft to that, try the Caistor Challenge covering 25 miles of Wolds countryside past eight villages and churches.

Pffft to walking, you’re feeling driven? Get the bus from Caistor to Lincoln, Louth, Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Brigg, or take to the car for a ten-minute drive to Market Rasen (racecourse!), Brigg (massive garden centre!) or the Three Sisters Vineyard (wine tours!) at Claxby.

Lovely Louth, the Wolds’s capital, is worth at least an afternoon to nosy around its specialist grocers, independent shops and award-winning The Cheese Shop – and even more lovely Lincoln 25 minutes away worth a full day to see its cathedral, castle and Medieval Bishop's Palace.

Also within reach are the 3000 sea critters of The Deep aquarium at Hull, Humber Bridge and its visitor centre at Hessle, the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway at Ludborough and the Lincolnshire Aviation Centre at East Kirkby.

Visit Grimsby, 15 minutes away, for the six-sailed Waltham Windmill and the award-winning Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre at Alexandra Dock, where the curious can tour the museum of the Ross Tiger trawler.
