  • Family-run site on a 30-acre farm near Horncastle, Lincolnshire
  • Half an hour’s drive to Skegness, and 40 minutes to Gibraltar Point
  • Campfires encouraged: meals provided to heat up
Off to Lincolnshire for some rural rest and relaxation? Get back to nature and the simple life with a stay at welcoming New Farm Holidays, set in 30 acres of peaceful woodland near Horncastle. This is properly remote camping, and a break here is best started with a wander around the organic farm. There’s bags of room for kids to run off energy in complete safety, building dens, playing games and splashing around in the lake. Or how about sitting back on clear nights to watch the stars twinkling in the Milky Way? Mains electricity, flushing toilets, a hot shower and dishwashing facilities are all available on site, along with wifi. The car park is 100 yards from the pitches, and a large cart is available for guests to shift their gear onto site. A roaring fire is essential when you’re camping, and at New Farm Holiday, every pitch has a dedicated firepit area so you can curl up in the warmth with a glass of wine or cook up a barbecue. A large bag of logs, kindling and firelighters is available for a small charge, or you’re welcome to bring your own logs – but please don’t gather firewood from the woods.

Meadow electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Good communication.
A fantastically well oiled machine I would say.
Only one shower but not for many peeps (one cubical with shower and toilet and another with a toilet) always toilet roll, soap to wash hands and tissue to dry hands. Sinks and washing up liquid. A fab shed with fridge and freezer to keep shopping cool. Lovely woodland for a little wander. Very peaceful. Shop and takeout a short drive away if required. We will be back, many thanks.

Electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked lovely secluded area - mixture of sheltered camping pitches, open field pitches and pods
very clean facilities - even have larder fridge and freezer for campers
lots of hot water for washing and dishes
weather was great 💕
free wifi
no cars on woodland pitches so your kids can run about safely - wheelbarrows provided to cart your kit to the pitch

Disliked access road to the site is shared access(?) and very bumpy so be prepared to go very slow upon entry to the road
very rural location so make sure you haven’t forgot anything! nearest Coop is Coningsby

Camping pod

Liked Everything, the site was absolutely spotless. We had lots of information including updates regarding a road closure before our arrival. There are lots of local walks and pubs which is lovely. The woodland walk on the site is full of wildlife including swifts, birds of prey, roe deer, hares and rabbits. The pod itself was absolutely amazing with all the essentials and it was very clean. There were lots of frogs about in the evening around the pond which made us smile. There are lots of activities for children and it is amazing for dogs!! There is WiFi in the pod.

Meadow electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The size of the pitch was ample and flat. Each pitch had water and electricity, there was also a fire pit and table and bench.
The woods have been well maintained and brilliant for young children.
Showers were of a good size, with plenty of hot water flowing. Nice touch having washing up liquid at the sink.

Disliked There are only 2 showers and 4 toilets, 2 are with the showers, in the wooded area. Could do with some more especially near the pitches, would be brilliant if they were behind the car park area, just a suggestion. We didn't have too much of a problem, but made plans to get up early to have showers, when we would have liked a lie in.
We could only find waste bins , no recycle facilities, we did make an effort to separate our rubbish.

Electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked The woodland site is very pretty with large, flat, well thought out pitches. The toilet and shower facilities, although limited are fitted out to a high standard and clean. Although the site is very much tucked away in the sticks it is only a short drive to pubs and the supermarket. The staff were also very friendly with great comms both before and during our stay. The one thing that blew us away was the excellent wifi available at our pitched in the wood!

Local attractions

From coast to countryside, activities to attractions, Lincolnshire has masses to offer all comers, what with family jaunts around a dinosaur trail and encounters with rare arctic foxes at ARK Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (five minutes’ drive), and meeting cheeky parrots or feeding tigers at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (15 minutes). If you’d rather spot some wildlife actually in the wild, Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (40 minutes) is the place to be, for rambles across dunes and the chance to spot colonies of common seals. If you like to be beside the seaside, Skegness (half an hour) is a riot of family fun, with amusement arcades, go-karting, mini-golf and fairground rides – and that’s before you hit the sandy beach. If you’d prefer a more sedate trip to the coast, the New Farm team recommend their favourite spot, Chapel Six Marshes (40 minutes). Lincolnshire’s also known for its military connections: the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (10 minutes) is home to one of the few Lancaster Bombers still in existence, and there are more vintage World War Two planes on display at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (20 minutes).
