Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a wonderful first visit just for a weekend. We felt welcome, the site was well organised, clean and tidy. It was quiet and friendly and the bar plus cafe food was great. We had a wonderful stay.

Disliked Would like the option to use a plug for a hairdryer as a camper in tent!

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Run by a really lovely couple, fantastic quiet site - was amazing waking up every morning to the Alpacas.
Small site which was about 50/50 camping and caravans when we stayed.
The onside toilets and showers were always clean and well maintained - the shower is £1 for 7 minutes which is much longer than we've had on other sites, water was always warm and plenty of space to dry off and get changed.
The Alpaca Arms pub is open most evenings, great selection of drinks and reasonable pricing. They put on plenty of events/activities in the evenings so it's easy to get to know other people staying on site (we recommend the music quiz even though we lost!)

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Well it has been 5 years since we were here last. When we started doing this we said we would always go to different sits. We are so glad we came back wow its even better now. Little hedges separate each pitch with electric if you want it. Over the years they have upgraded the toilets & showers. The bar that's been built has quality & character in spades which Gary looked after while we were there. Julie looked after the food although not a chef all of her food is spot & of a good price too. She was trying out her new Mr Whippy ice cream machine for the first time that was fun but the ice creams were just the trick. Its easy to see why people keep going back great site & top hosting .Well done guys keep up the good work & new ideas.

Disliked Nothing at all.

What customers say

This adult-only, dog-friendly campsite is praised for its exceptional cleanliness, well-maintained pitches, and friendly, accommodating owners, Julie and Gary. Guests highlight the Alpaca Arms pub as a great addition with a lively atmosphere, and the opportunity to feed the alpacas is a particular joy. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are consistently described as spotless. The quiet, peaceful setting and spacious pitches contribute to a relaxing experience. Minor points mentioned include the £1 coin requirement for showers and occasional noise from the surrounding area.

Enclosed electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nice place to stay, we had a pitch that was fenced in which was great for our dog to have a stroll unsupervised. The facilities were fine. It was peaceful and the alpacas were adorable to observe.

Disliked Showers were charged for, only one shower for the whole site and the toilet/shower area was quite cold.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou
We do try and keep the facilities warm they are heated, but some campers have an aversion to closing doors, we cannot monitor constantly other than repeatedly shutting them when we see them left open, along with some of our more considerate guests.
We don't apologise or make a secret of charging for showers (plural there is a shower in both the mens and the ladies facilities) as they are hot electric showers not push button with poor pressure, also the same reason we don't have more than 2 on our small site. Quality over quantity.
Obviously as you were a solo traveller you didnt see the mens facilities but a bit surprised you presumed they didn't have a shower?

Enclosed electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked We had the enclosed pitch which was perfect with having our dog with us . We visited the bar on site and it was a very friendly place . The owners were very friendly . You had to pay a £1 for the shower , which I dont mind better then the push button type . You pay extra for for electric after a certain amount but when we left we were well under . Overall a nice little site . But be aware there is only 1 shower in each of the male and female wash rooms so if it's busy you may after wait your turn . Would definitely visit again

Local attractions

Without any kids in tow, having hols full of grownup-sanctioned adventure is a cinch: head towards Grimsby (half an hour's drive) for tours and tastings at Rutlands Arms Old Mill Brewery and a stop at the taproom of the town’s newest brewery, Docks Beers. Otherwise, venture towards Hull (half an hour) for sedate turns around pleasant gardens, stately manors, museums galore and a must-do stop at The Deep aquarium. Anyone who’s after something more high-adrenaline and doesn’t mind a slightly longer drive should make the hour and 20-minute journey down the coast to Ingoldmells for a day at Fantasy Island theme park, or continue on to Skegness (an hour and 20 minutes) for stock car and banger racing at Skegness Raceway. For days in the great wide open, there’s plenty of choice: the Lincolnshire Wolds are about half an hour away for hiking, biking, riding and geocaching, or a coastal detour to Cleethorpes (35 minutes) and its seaside stretch is a top pick for beach and sandcastle days. A trip to Spurn National Nature Reserve (an hour and 15 minutes) shouldn’t be spurned either, even if it’s over an hour away – take a stroll along the sand island for slow-paced explores or sign up for a safari or wildlife-spotting boat trip to see it at its best.
