Site in summer

  • Countryside site over three acres in the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Under 10 minutes' drive from Alford and 20 from Skegness
  • Dog-friendly location; barbecues (raised off the ground) welcome
Fancy a Lincolnshire Wolds stay with easy access to Lincolnshire coast hotspots like Skegness and Mablethorpe? Bound along to Deers Leap Camping just outside Alford for a peaceful countryside setting, excellent transport links and easy access from the A16, all in the lush Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (with Wolds walks just five minutes away). Set over three acres, Deers Leap is under 10 minutes' drive from the old market town of Alford, 15 minutes from the nearest beach and 20 minutes from Skegness. Settle down here after a long day's hiking or seaside rambling, to fire up a barbecue (raised off the ground) and eat out under the stars. This is a dog-friendly location that's conveniently surrounded by plenty of nice areas for you to take them on their daily dog walks. Amenities on site include a purpose-built log cabin with hot showers, plus a washing-up area, chemical disposal and a drinking water point, as well as a communal firepit (to be lit in good conditions only, and always manned). A shop is within a mile for supplies (at the local garage), or you can easily arrange grocery deliveries to the site. Horse-riding activities are also available in the local area.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious, clean, plenty of bins. Shower/toilet area is wooden cabins which was a little different and nice and accessible.

Disliked Unfortunately have to leave a bad review. Unsure if it's the owners dogs or neighbors? As effectively campsite is the back garden area of a property.

Big dog & small dog - Barking every 3-5 minutes completely ruined my stay, continued to about 1-2am and then started again at 6am. I'm unsure how owners of these(not other campers) this came from the house - actually do not realize this is a problem. Incredibly loud and annoying and I had basically 0 sleep

Despite the campsite being right next to an A road - that noise is acceptable.
Yet Barking yapping dogs with no control or obedience is not.

Hopefully this message can give whomever needs support to make this camp site better.

As I would never go back, I actually left a day early because of it.

Liked Nothing.

Disliked Rubbish bins were not emptied all through bank holiday weekend so were overflowing.
Lots of traffic noise.
Overall poorly maintained.

From the manager: Thankyou for your comments. We were at full capacity over an extremely hot bank holiday and the bins were emptied both days however due to some un respectful guests, these were filled with air mattresses and non food waste items which filled them instantly. Over the weekend I personally emptied over 1000 litre of waste into our skip. Although the site is 150 yards from a road most customers never complain as the road noise is minimal. We are a family orientated quiet site with just a hot shower and toilet blocks. These are cleaned every morning. The grass is highly maintained so I am unsure what other maintenance you required for one of the lowest priced campsites in the UK. We keep our prices this way make minimal profit so our site is accessible to all people.

Local attractions

Keeping holidaymakers of all ilks happily occupied since times of yore, the Lincolnshire seaside capital Skegness is a top pick for a coastal day; there are reasons why one Mr Butlins picked Skeggy as the setting of his first holiday park venture back in the 1930s… Have at least a day here on the sandy beach and the lengthy pier, greeting the honking inhabitants of the Natureland seal sanctuary, and having fish and chips (many times) at your own fave Skegness spot. Leaving Skegness (boo), Ingoldmells, with its seven-day indoor market and the Fantasy Island amusement park, is also 20 minutes' drive from the site. Mablethorpe, home to a splendid beach and another seal centre in the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary and Wildlife Centre, is a couple of minutes further along the coast. Inland, make for Alford to see its famed five-sailed windmill or the kid-friendly artefacts in the Hackett Barn Museum, to Horncastle (15 minutes) for antique hunting or to Louth for the town markets including the last remaining cattle market in Lincolnshire. Or stride out into the countryside instead: hardened hikers have heaps of options in the picworthy Lincolnshire Wolds.
