View from the campsite

  • Adults-only campsite in hilly countryside near Market Harborough
  • A 10-minute drive to Foxton Locks, and 20 to Lutterworth
  • Covered communal eating area; dark skies site and wildlife haven
Base yourself at Valley View Campsite for a peaceful, adults-only stay among Leicestershire hills and valleys near Market Harborough, or use the place as a base for day trips to the bright lights of Birmingham (an hour’s drive). Either way, those far-reaching rural views come as standard on all the spacious pitches. No-frills facilities cover spotlessly clean showers and loos. Barbecues are allowed or you can pick up takeaways in Fleckney (five minutes’ drive) and eat in The Barn, an undercover communal dining area for unwinding, meeting fellow guests and doing the washing up. If the weather is behaving and conditions are right, you may catch some colourful sunrises and sunsets, and as the area has a low level of light pollution, some serious stargazing is possible on clear nights. The site is also something of a wildlife haven, so keep your eyes peeled for sparrow hawks and buzzards, rabbits and deer. Dogs are welcome at Valley View, and there’s a separate area where you can take them for exercise.

Liked What a fantastic little site. Quiet, peaceful with everything you need. Spotless toilets and showers, a lounge with sofas, books and games, a fridge freezer and a kettle with tea and coffee. Would stay here again in an instant.

Disliked The fact that we only stayed for 1 night!

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked As soon as we pulled onto the site & notified Helen we were there, she came out to greet us.She took me to the pitch & explained where everything was.
My Wife & I settled in to a lovely peaceful evening with fantastic views of the sunset.
The toilets & shower were kept clean by Helen herself as is all the site maintenance. She told us the best thing was tootling around on her little ride on mower!
In total we spent four nights there & it was so quiet & relaxing we were reluctant to leave.
I would highly recommend this site if you're looking for somewhere quiet as a base to explore the local counties.

Disliked There is nothing to dislike about this beautiful place.

Local attractions

Starting in the village of Mowsley, have a wander on foot around the Laughton Hills or do some exploring on horseback from the local riding stables (both five minutes’ drive). For a gentle stroll, follow the Grand Union Canal towpath out of the village – it’s an easy walk to Foxton Locks (10 minutes), where you can watch barges ascend a flight of 10 locks, hire a boat to chug along the canal yourself, or have a nose around Foxton Canal Museum (15 minutes). Exercise completed for the day? Foxton Locks Inn is the spot for a virtuous post-walk pint and a bite to eat. If you have the urge to spend some of your hard-earned cash, Market Harborough (15 minutes’ drive) is packed with antiques emporiums and unusual shops, or try Lutterworth (20 minutes) for its historic Thursday market and stick around for a tour of elegant 17th-century Stanford Hall (20 minutes, check opening dates before you visit).
