  • Adults-only campsite in hilly countryside near Market Harborough
  • A 10-minute drive to Foxton Locks, and 20 to Lutterworth
  • Covered communal eating area; dark skies site and wildlife haven
Base yourself at Valley View Campsite for a peaceful, adults-only stay among Leicestershire hills and valleys near Market Harborough, or use the place as a base for day trips to the bright lights of Birmingham (an hour’s drive). Either way, those far-reaching rural views come as standard on all the spacious pitches. No-frills facilities cover spotlessly clean showers and loos. Barbecues are allowed or you can pick up takeaways in Fleckney (five minutes’ drive) and eat in The Barn, an undercover communal dining area for unwinding, meeting fellow guests and doing the washing up. If the weather is behaving and conditions are right, you may catch some colourful sunrises and sunsets, and as the area has a low level of light pollution, some serious stargazing is possible on clear nights. The site is also something of a wildlife haven, so keep your eyes peeled for sparrow hawks and buzzards, rabbits and deer. Dogs are welcome at Valley View, and there’s a separate area where you can take them for exercise.

What customers say

This adults-only campsite offers stunning valley views and a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors consistently praise the exceptionally clean facilities, including showers and toilets, and the welcoming nature of owner Helen. The communal barn area with seating, games, and refreshments is a much-appreciated bonus, especially in inclement weather. Pitches are generally well-maintained and spacious. While some minor points were raised regarding shower availability during busy periods and the cost of electricity, the overwhelming sentiment is one of a well-managed, relaxing escape.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Valley View is a lovely setting in the heart of Leicestershire countryside. We chose the site because of the local footpaths we could use to walk to Foxton Locks. The site is very well run by Helen who is a lovely lady. She met us on arrival, showed us around the site and gave us a few options where to site our motorhome. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Our stay coincided with the Persid meteor shower and the dark skies at VV made this a great location to see them

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious pitch size, with a fantastic view to watch the sunset. Rural location, no light pollution for stargazing.
Great facilities, we were able to store food in the shared fridge/freezer. Complimentary coffee/tea facilities, kettle and toaster. Clean toilets and showers. Everything you need, including comfy sofas!
Very dog friendly with 2 walking paddocks.
We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility.
Helen greeted us when we arrived, and we were able to choose our pitch.
Fantastic stay! Highly recommended and we will return.

Local attractions

Starting in the village of Mowsley, have a wander on foot around the Laughton Hills or do some exploring on horseback from the local riding stables (both five minutes’ drive). For a gentle stroll, follow the Grand Union Canal towpath out of the village – it’s an easy walk to Foxton Locks (10 minutes), where you can watch barges ascend a flight of 10 locks, hire a boat to chug along the canal yourself, or have a nose around Foxton Canal Museum (15 minutes). Exercise completed for the day? Foxton Locks Inn is the spot for a virtuous post-walk pint and a bite to eat. If you have the urge to spend some of your hard-earned cash, Market Harborough (15 minutes’ drive) is packed with antiques emporiums and unusual shops, or try Lutterworth (20 minutes) for its historic Thursday market and stick around for a tour of elegant 17th-century Stanford Hall (20 minutes, check opening dates before you visit).
