One-acre grass site with riverside pitches

  • Secluded Herefordshire farm site on the Arrow river near Pembridge
  • A 25-minute drive to Ludlow, and half an hour to Offa’s Dyke
  • Wild camping with shops, pubs and takeaways within five minutes’ drive
A fabulously peaceful place to relax, kick back and watch the world go by, The Leen Caravan and Camping Site is tucked away in leafy north Herefordshire countryside near Leominster. Spacious grass pitches have waterside views, plus an acre for kids to play safely in, and your doggy chums are welcome too (under control) but please always clean up after them. The Leen is a working dairy farm and you’ll get the chance to see the milking herd of Hereford cattle wandering past most days. Just so you know, you may encounter farm traffic at busy times but this should not disrupt your stay – and of course, you’re welcome to wander the different habitats. If you are lucky enough, you may get to spot the resident kingfisher or a passing otter on the Arrow river. The site is only a five-minute drive from the centre of the medieval half-timbered village of Pembridge, where there are a couple of foodie pubs, stores and a café with a takeaway service. Bigger shops should be left for Leominster (15 minutes’ drive), which has supermarkets, a raft of dining options and a leisure centre with a pool for any rainy days. Simple amenities back at site include grass pitches with electric hook-ups, water taps dotted around the site, and a toilet with hand-washing facilities and a washing-up area (cold water only) a 100-metre walk from the camping field.

What customers say

This is a peaceful, well-maintained riverside campsite, praised for its beautiful location and proximity to Pembridge village. Visitors enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere, wildlife, and the experience of watching cows being milked. Pitches are generally flat with electric and water. Basic, clean toilet facilities are available, though some noted the lack of showers and the single toilet. A significant concern raised by one reviewer involved issues with uncontrolled dogs on the site.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Immediate assistance offered when I broke a spring on my tow car. A professional mechanic was on site within 15 minutes and carried out a replacement the following morning at a very reasonable rate enabling us to continue with our holiday.

The site is stunningly beautiful with an abundance of wildlife and lovely walks.
The working farm continues around the camp ground but does not disrupt enjoyment in any way.

If you cannot live without the internet, find somewhere else to stay. We found it very welcome!

Cannot recommend it highly enough if peace and tranquility are your objectives.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Loved this site, about half hour walk to nearest village which is very picturesque, had a lovely lunch just out of village at a campsite called Townsend (great air con much appreciated during the heatwave) small well stocked shop in the village also. Site is very peaceful. Lots of birds of prey circling. Was lovely to see the cattle passing on there way to be milked. Right next to a river that you could paddle in, we had issues with our motorhome on route to site and owners let us use the office address to order fuses from Amazon which arrived next day. Would definitely visit again and definitely recommend. Thanks Emma & Rich

Stayed many times with our dogs. You can pitch up where you want to, so informal.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The property's idyllic location adjacent to a picturesque stream provided ample enjoyment for the children. Our family, including those camping with us, spent a pleasant bank holiday weekend there. We appreciated exploring the local area and the serendipitous discovery of a charming medieval event in Pembridge. The facilities, while basic, were clean and as advertised, meeting our expectations.

Local attractions

Acquaint yourself with the gorgeous half-timbered architecture of local villages like Pembridge (five minutes’ drive) on the Black and White Trail, a 40-mile route that wends its way through north Herefordshire, taking in Lyonshall (10 minutes) and Eardisley (20 minutes). You’ll also find lots of fine timbered buildings in Ludlow (25 minutes) as well as a medieval castle and lots of pubs to have a taste of local ciders. If you’d rather be exploring on foot, Offa’s Dyke Path (half an hour) meanders roughly along the border with Wales. If you venture further into Wales, you can follow paved walking and cycling routes leading around reservoirs in the Elan Valley (50 minutes). Animal-mad kids can greet donkeys and goats at the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (15 minutes), or you can (hopefully) wear them out canoeing on the Wye river (55 minutes). If that doesn’t quite do the trick, send them off to search out the madcap follies in Westonbury Mill Water Gardens (10 minutes).
