Sunny evening at holingwood

  • Simple, family-run caravan site with views of the Black Mountains
  • A 25-minute drive to Hereford and Wye Valley; 35 minutes to Hay-on-Wye
  • Dog-friendly pitches with access to a footpath; country pubs nearby
So, you’ve got eyes on the Black Mountains for hiking, gorge walking and canoeing… or on Hay-on-Wye for a feast of bookshops and watersports on the river Wye. A 25-minute drive from Hereford and 35 minutes from Hay-on-Wye, Hollingwood Farm is a dog-friendly caravan site where the Black Mountains and the Golden Valley are your views… peaceful, simple and stunning. While you become part of this working farm site for a few days (or however long you’ve got in mind), cosy country pubs might become a familiar way to end the day, as there are a few serving local food and ales around 10 minutes’ drive away… or perhaps you’ll want to scrape up the scraps from the local farm shop (10 minutes' drive) for a barbecue back on site before the sun goes down. Historic market towns are a common sight around here too, as are footpaths with miles of walking. In fact, there’s a footpath that’s accessible directly off the pitches and it goes quite far away. Over in Hay-on-Wye, however, canoeing on the river could form part of your day, along with a look around the booksellers, cafés and other upbeat places to sit and eat. On site, there aren’t any toilets and showers, but each pitch comes with its own water tap (that’s water bottles, washing up and that sort of stuff sorted) and you’ll have access to waste and chemical disposal too.

What customers say

Hollingwood Farm offers a peaceful countryside retreat with stunning views and a welcoming atmosphere. Guests praised the helpful and friendly owners, Mervyn and Freya, who made the farm experience memorable for children with animal encounters and egg collecting. The site is ideal for self-contained units, with well-maintained pitches and on-pitch services. While the lack of toilets/showers and the distance to the black waste disposal were noted as drawbacks for some, the overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked What a lovely, secluded and amazing site. I have camped in so many places, but this has to be one of the best. The owner is a lovely guy who was a pleasure to meet and good laugh too. Some awesome walks on the door step and my dog loved the cows. The local pub was a gem too - will definitely be back. Good luck to Luctonians this season!

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked Very spacious pitches. Lovely scenery and great that they are fully serviced. The owner came out and was very friendly and gave us some good pub recommendations nearby. Great that the bins and grey waste were really close. No light pollution nearby and we were lucky with the weather so we could go stargazing! We would defo come again.

Disliked The chemical toilet disposal was a bit of a trek and not very well signed. Might not be possible but would be so useful to have the disposal point on site. The roads getting there are very narrow but with passing points so bare that in mind if you have a large unit.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked The farmer and his family are very welcoming, the views are fantastic, and the cows in the fields around you are acting quite funny. They follow you like a flock of swans as you walk past them very inquisitive and wanting to get involved in you LOL.

Disliked The pictures are on slopes, which means pitching is quite difficult, needs better roadside signage

Liked We had a fantastic stay at Hollingwood Farm! The pitch had beautiful views and was the perfect spot for our first trip in our caravan. Mervyn and Freya were so welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful. A real highlight for the children was when Mervyn took them around the farm to see the animals and even collect eggs from the hens – it truly made their trip and gave them memories they’ll never forget.

The local area was great too, with the fish and chip shop and the Temple Bar Inn both serving amazing food. Everything about our stay was relaxing and enjoyable, and we’ll definitely be returning.
