Hardstanding pitch with water and electric

  • Family- and dog-friendly pub site a mile from Leominster on the A44
  • A 20-minute drive from Ludlow; 25 minutes from Hereford
  • Home-cooked meals, play area and 24-hour access to facilities
If you’re the type who loves the outdoors but is also rather fond of finishing a day out with a good feed and a proper pint, then it’s likely you’ll do rather well indeed at Barons Cross Inn. This welcoming pub site is in a highly handy Herefordshire location, a mile outside of Leominster on the A44 and sitting in a sweet spot in the middle of a triangle that has the Malvern Hills, the Shropshire Hills and the Brecon Beacons at its points. All of that means heaps of walks to be had in the vicinity, along with pretty villages to potter around (some of the best are linked on the nearby Black & White Trail driving route). Whatever you choose to do by day, you’ll surely be keen to get back to the pub, where the chef preps meals made with locally sourced ingredients (but kept at pub prices) and there’s a tempting collection of beers, ciders and wines. There's often something going on, such as quiz nights or live music, and everyone is made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Restless kids and dogs can be entertained at the play area and the neighbouring field respectively. Guests have 24-hour access to a shower room and washing-up facilities. Breakfasts are available every day, and you’re welcome to light up a barbecue if you fancy doing your own cooking (there’s a supermarket five minutes’ walk away and a bus stop just outside the pub for easy access to shops).

What customers say

This site offers a relaxed atmosphere with a popular pub serving exceptional, generously portioned food at reasonable prices. Guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, good value, and convenient location close to Leominster and a supermarket. Pitches are generally level with electric hook-up and water. While many highlight the welcoming vibe and great food, some reviews mention the facilities, particularly toilets and showers, needing improvement in cleanliness and maintenance, with a portaloo provided for nighttime use. Overall, a gem for many, with potential for further development.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Very friendly owners. Lovely food in the pub but limited tables because they are decorating. The pitches all have ehu and a water tap. Mainly level but pitches need a bit of TLC. Would definitely stay there again. Very close to Leominster centre. Large beer garden with play area.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Warm welcome from Nina to this laid back site , we really enjoyed our stay , 5 minute walk to Morrisons , 20 mins in to the quaint little town , not that you needed to leave the site , the pub served great food with large portions . The pub was dog friendly , bonus as it was far too hot to sit outside . Friendly staff , Eve was lovely and made us feel very welcome . All in all a great weekend and we will be visiting again and recommending friends pay a visit too

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked No 1 & TOP OF THE LIST. The fact that all the ridiculous negative comments in the reviews, we did not experience, in fact totally the opposite.
The facilities on offer for the price are fantastic. The 24hr access to one of the best ( Non push button) campsite showers i have experienced. Toilets are available during pub opening hours and a portaloo which is suitable for people with disabilities. The campsite is well looked after and the grass cut. With hardstanding pitches there is electric and a water connection. For me the pub has not lost its old traditional feel with a bar that has a pool table etc or alternatively the restaurant/bar for a quieter atmosphere. The food was lovely i had fish & chips which was faultless and my wife had steak & chips. There is a Morrisons within walking distance or the town centre a little further. A carboot sale is advertised for a Saturday from midday although there was only one trader on this day maybe a hot weather thing ( 33+ degrees) with no shaded areas. Farmers/craft market in the centre of town also on a Saturday

Disliked Nothing although maybe one small thing I would consider would be to provide a mop and bucket for the guests who do chose to shower with the curtain outside of the shower tray 😉

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Well spaced out, reasonably level, gravel pitches with EHU and water.

Disliked The Pub: totally atmosphere - free and the one real ale they eventually put on was poor.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely weeks holiday. Field was flat and well tended. General atmosphere was great from start to finish, the hard working family that run the place could not have been more helpful, going above and beyond.( They even jump started the car when we accidentally run the battery flat ) The facilities are all kept very clean and tidy. The food was delicious and service was good and all of it at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be going back, and there is much more in the area we can see and do.

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything. Site was tidy and well managed, pitches are nice and level. The staff are really friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The toilets were clean and tidy and the shower room was great. It was like a proper room, not cramped in any way, and really spicious with lots of hot water and open all night as well. The beer garden is lovely and the beer is very good here i am pleased to say. Best of all though, is the food. The food is absolutely amazing. I had the best ribs I have ever had anywhere. We will definitely be back for our main holiday with the kids. Very glad we found this.

Disliked Absolutely, nothing except the WiFi isn't great but the owners tell me they are getting full.fibre and boosters to compensate for this, so I look forward to that being the case when we return.

Local attractions

Start with a little stroll around Leominster, a mile away – it’s a handsome market town with a grand priory and streets lined with independent shops to poke around in. For more active times, it’s also got a swimming pool and a golf course (about 10 minutes’ drive from the pub). If you’d like to take your urban wanders a little further, check out the foodies’ fave Ludlow (20 minutes’ drive) or head into Hereford (25 minutes) to see the cathedral, the Mappa Mundi exhibition and the Hereford Cider Museum. Keeping it all a little more country, venture to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (20 minutes) to get up close to the animals, wander through Westonbury Mill Water Gardens (15 minutes) or learn a little bit about cheesemaking at Monkland Cheese Dairy (five minutes). If you’re heading out for a hike, the Shropshire Hills, Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons are all within 40 minutes’ drive.
