Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Has a lake. Easy access. Quiet site.Clean facilities.

Disliked: No designated pitch when not on EHU. Nothing within walking distance unless you go on the road. Needed a car really.

From the manager: Thanks for your comments, but just wanted to comment on walking to Ledbury - it is about 2 miles walking, but not on the road, you walk through orchards, around a farmyard, and down past vineyards and cross a bridge over the river and then follow the pavement into the town. Im sorry you werent aware of this, but if you had popped into reception we would have explained the route. We are quite a rural site, but most people enjoy this feature with a lovely walk into Ledbury, or the bus stop is about 1 mile from the site. Thank you

Really enjoyed our second visit to Woodside Country Park.

Camping pod

Liked: Peacefully Well keep green areas Friendly staff

Disliked: The pod were not children friendly Unsafe could easily be unlock by a 2 year old right near the road No grass area at the front the patio had a drop that young children could easily full off and hurt themselves The pods were also a long way from the play ground and pound and cross the main road to access it made it a very stressful holiday always trying to keep the children safe.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We were part of a multiple booking for a family get-together. Allocated space in the Cider Mill Field, a slightly sloped field with a pitch size that was plenty big enough and relatively safe for the younger kids (a large hedgerow separated us from the field that had the lake and the play area in). Although the lake is fed from a natural source the colour of the water is not that appealing. It’s a clay pit and due to the amount of activity stirring up the sediment the water is a brown colour. It didn’t put us off though. There were families picnicking in the field while watching their kids launch themselves off the jetty into the water, a couple with paddle boards, and some kayaks. There’s only a small play area which has two slides, a climbing wall, and a bridge. Showers, toilets, wash-up areas all clean, and regularly cleaned by the looks of it. A couple of communal fridges & freezers to store any stuff you may have that needs it. A very small shop in reception sells a few bits but Tesco’s and Aldi are only 5-10 minute drive away. There’s a few other ponds in a small wooded area, and a nice lake by a conservation area on the side of the site where the lodges are.

Disliked: The quiet time hours are from 10:30pm to 8am and they are rigorous in their control. As a large family we would gather around the traditional fire pit after a late evening meal (as similarly other large groups in the field did) for a catch-up, chin wag, stories, jokes etc. Don’t even think about laughing out loud after 10:30pm as the noise police will be around. Numerous families on the site were paid a visit on the Saturday night, kills the mood completely. Please note though, this is not a complaint, just a dislike. For some people this is obviously ideal. We were all aware of the terms and conditions when we booked and other places we have been to have also had similar rules (but not exercised as stringently).

From the manager: We are so sorry that you had this experience, we were away from the site that weekend, and our new staff on duty were just learning when and what is too loud! We are happy with quiet chatty, sitting around the camp fire, but are strict about no music after 10.30 as it encourages people to talk louder. If we ever feel people are being a little bit too noisy we recommend splitting into smaller groups so people dont shout across to each other so much. Sorry again that this was your experience, we felt the need to comment as I dont want people booking our site because they think it will be absolutely silent after 10.30, although often it is, i think lots of people are worn out by the swimming and playing in the lake , ha ha !!! We try to find a happy medium. We do hope you can visit us again in the future. Many thanks Emma and Helen

Local attractions

Nearby Ledbury is a lovely little market town famed for its cobbled streets and black and white timber-framed buildings: look out for and take a snap of the Market House in the town centre. The town is at almost equal distance from the cathedral towns or 'Three Counties' of Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester and a day should surely be had at each: Gloucester for its Harry Potter-scened cathedral and many museums; Hereford for the Old House, Hereford Cider Museum and Hereford Cathedral's Mappa Mundi; and Worcester for its library The Hive and the Three Choirs Festival (Worcester Cathedral by night is a spectacular sight too). The countryside surrounding Woodside Country Park is known for its Herefordshire sights like hopyards, cider orchards and Hereford cattle, while walkers and cyclists come to this part of the land to hike or bike the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean.
