Local attractions

Historic Ledbury (10 minutes’ drive) is a charming town with half-timbered buildings lining cobbled streets. Today they are lined with art galleries, designer shops and gourmet delis. The striking 17th-century market is built on stilts, and there are plenty of little museums to keep you entertained. Ledbury is also the springboard to hiking trails in the Malvern Hills (half an hour). Kids can have lots of fun hereabout too, with play areas and farm animals to cuddle at Cattle Country Farm Park (50 minutes), and pony rides or treasure hunts at Newbridge Farm Park (five minutes). Track butterflies on marked trails at Haugh Wood Butterfly Trail (15 minutes) or follow the funky sculpture trail in the Forest of Dean (half an hour), where stained-glass installations glitter among the trees. Fancy sampling some local produce? Why not add a tour of Westons Cider Mill (five minutes) to your stay? You can see where the apples are pressed, fermented and matured into cider, tour the orchards and have the chance to do some serious tasting too.

Non-electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Easily found location just a few miles out of Ledbury. Basically the ‘pitches’ are on a tarmac car park to the rear of the pub. Bit of a shuffle around as the parking is on a bit of a slope, so would advise bring your levellers. However only a couple more campervans there so easily found a ‘level’ spot away from the other vehicles. There are no markings so you can park where you like. Made our way into the pub to register our arrival. Not the friendliest of welcomes and apparently there’s no need to book in. Stayed for a drink at the bar. Toilets in pub clean and tidy and left to eat in Ledbury.
We were very relieved we weren’t camping as the field immediately adjacent to the car park as it was very over grown and would have be difficult to pitch a tent on.

Disliked Be aware there are no showers, which the advert clearly states and the toilets are in the pub. However these are ONLY accessible when the pub opens which in our case was 11.30am (depart time is 12 noon)
We were also not aware that there was a classic car meet booked onto the same car park, on the following day which started at 11.30am. Luckily for us we had parked in an area which wasn’t going to be used by a stall holder. However one campervan did arrive and parked, to be then told quite strongly by one of the rally organisers he couldn’t park there and had to move. After a round of several arguments. The campervan left. They cancelled their Sunday lunch booking and had the pitch payment refunded by the pub management
I’ve given the two star rating only due to the wonderful classic cars and drivers who arrived. Bringing a welcome friendliness to our stay.

From the manager: Good morning,
Thank you for leaving your feedback and I am so so sorry you didn’t get a warm welcome, this is unheard of for us and regularly get commended on our welcome so I’m so sorry! We don’t ‘check in’ as we aren’t a fully fledged campsite and we have everyone’s number plates, so we check these throughout the day/evening. We prefer a relaxed and laid back approach so guests can feel at ease to pitch where they’re comfortable without being put under pressure.
Regarding facilities, it is written clearly on our description what is and isn’t available and when and it’s titled wild camping and priced accordingly. I have however, made it clearer on there that it is a car park as opposed to pitches. So thank you for pointing this out.
You’re absolutely right, we didn’t want you of the rally and that was our mistake so please accept my apologies regarding that.
The grass was long but all of our tent users were made aware of this, our mower broke down last week so we didn’t have the opportunity to sort it, but they were all informed.
And regarding the other motorhome, there was more to that than you may have been aware of, so I’m not going to leave comment on it.
I would like to invite you back on another occasion though, so please contact us directly as our welcome is absolutely something we pride ourselves on.

Liked Perfect place for a weekend camping if you want a pub nearby.

Really good location for visiting Weston's Cider Mill and Ledbury

Disliked Only downside is there are no shower facilities and the toilets are only available during the pub hours.

From the manager: Thank you for leaving us a great review! I hope the toilet and shower situation was clear on the description and we hope to have some in the future.

Non-electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Pretty central location, a field next to carpark to exercise dogs, minimal noise in the evening even when something on in the pub, didn't realise it was a steam rally on same weekend booked which was bonus

Disliked We were literally in a tarmac car park of a pub, didn't see that mentioned on pitchup, luckily we had a toilet but otherwise only toilet available was when pub was open. Couldn't get any food from pub in evening as too busy, no one checked who we were or asked for booking ref number or name anything which made us feel slightly uneasy that random people could just turn up and pitch

From the manager: Thank you for leaving your feedback and I am sorry you were unhappy with your stay.

I can only apologise regarding not being able to get food. We get exceptionally busy but you should have still been able to get food even if it was later. Hopefully you’ll try us again in the future.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Fantastic quiet field behind The Royal Oak pub, just a few miles outside of Ledbury. Gorgeous views of the sunset. Pub bathrooms available for use. Easy to find, very friendly staff and super dog friendly. Lovely to sit on the pub patio with a glass of wine overlooking the camping area. Great value, will definitely stay again.

Disliked There are no showers yet but for a night or two that’s no issue. A fenced off area for safe dog exercise in the future would be perfect.

Check pub opening times and access to toilets before you book!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked .

Disliked We booked for a one night stop over on a bank holiday Sunday. We chose it based on it being a pub so we could eat there. On arrival day we got a text at 11am advising us the pub would be closed from 3pm and not open at all on Monday. To get access to the toilets we would have to message them. Not at all convenient with a young family. We actually broke down and decided to stay somewhere else in the end as a field with no facilities whatsoever wasn't really going to work.

Location spot on, friendly staff…
