  • Pop-up dog-friendly wild camping in peaceful Herefordshire countryside
  • A 15-minute drive to Hereford and the Wye Valley; 25 to Ross-on-Wye
  • Walking and cycling from the site; pubs and stores in walking distance
Shanti’s Meadow is a wild camping site with 3.5 acres of fairly flat grassland in rural Herefordshire, on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you’re keen to turn your back on the rat race for a few days, this is the pop-up spot for you – and it helps if you like horses, because there are quite a few around. Walkers, cyclists and dog-owners roll up – this is a particularly good base with plenty of footpaths and biking trails close by. Further afield, you can find excellent hiking routes and challenging mountain biking in the Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons National Park (both an hour’s drive). Watersports fans, you can be kayaking or paddleboarding on the Wye river in 10 minutes, and if you’d prefer more sedate days out, Hereford (15 minutes’ drive) offers bags of history, with the famed Mappa Mundi in the medieval cathedral, and Worcester (an hour and five minutes) has a couple of porcelain museums offering guided tours. Away from base, you can walk to local stores and pubs in less than 15 minutes. Bring a torch as there’s no electricity, and be sure to take some time out to enjoy the peace and quiet. Please note that toilets and showers are not provided at Shanti's Meadow.
