  • Off-grid pop-up with stunning 360-degree views in the Black Mountains

  • Solar-powered site with dog-friendly pitches; firepits provided
Tucked away in the untamed scenery of the Black Mountains, Campsite 360 Degrees is an off-grid pop-up retreat for everyone looking for peace, space and Herefordshire adventures. With far-reaching 360-degree views to the Welsh horizon, this solar-powered slice of paradise is a true escape from the noise and rush of modern life. The site covers open meadows, sheltered hollows and vantage points for soaking up the spectacular views – you’re free to choose your spot, so wander the land and pitch up wherever you like. You will have no traffic noise and no city lights, just a canopy of stars on clear nights and the silhouette of mountains by day. Wake to the sound of birdsong, breathe crisp mountain air and watch the sun spill across the valleys before going to sleep under a dark sky with no light pollution. The Black Mountains offer near-endless opportunities for hiking (bring your dogs to join in the fun, but please keep them on a lead on site as there are sheep grazing nearby), cycling and wildlife spotting. However, if relaxation is your goal, simply pull up a chair, light a campfire and let the world drift away. There’s a communal barbecue area to use (please bring your own charcoal for cooking), plus a communal firepit (ask the team in advance to purchase firewood). Supplies can be located in the renowned 'book town' of Hay-on-Wye (20 minutes’ drive). You'll also come across several pubs and farm shops within 20 minutes by car.

What customers say

This is a spectacular, basic campsite with stunning panoramic views and immediate access to beautiful walks. Ross, the owner, is frequently praised for being welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. Facilities include compost toilets and cold water. While generally peaceful and ideal for "wild camping" feel, some guests noted that the access track can be bumpy and narrow, making it less suitable for larger motorhomes, especially in wet conditions. Visitors highly recommend the site for its location and natural beauty.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Loved staying here. It was quiet when we arrived. There are the most wonderful views. We were able to decide where to stop for the night on the field as it was quieter.
Ross, the owner was incredibly accommodating and helped with directions, he let us stay a bit longer as we were a bit later than anticipated.

There are fire pits dotted around the field, if you need one to use, but it will depend on whether the space next to them has been taken.

Disliked This is a basic site, with composting toilets, a water point and sink (don't be like others and wash your dishes in there without cleaning the rubbish off first as some people did-it got blocked).

We managed to get to the site in our twin axle motorhome, but it was tight and the drive onto the track to get to the site needs manoeuvring. The roads are quite bumpy in places and you have to be confident in driving down narrower country roads.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Stunning spot. Could pitch where we liked but hard to choose as every view was breath taking. Walked barefoot for the stay as the grass was so lovely and free of anything spikey. Walked from the campsite to Offa's Dyke Pass past lots of wild horses. It was so quiet and peaceful on the site, no road noise, just nature. The toilets were beautifully built and clean.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The view is really nice, very friendly owner. Unfortunately as it was heavy raining and very windy our motorhome (6m) got stuck in the mud on the field. The owner got us out which was very nice. It was quite a struggle to leave the camping field as it was wet and the grass height obsticles upon to the road. A compost wc to use.

Disliked Coming from Hay on wye the road is very small for miles, almost nowhere space to pass upcoming cars, no relaxed drive. Not suitable for big sized motorhomes. We are 2m3 wide and a mirror was damaged while driving the road because of the narrow hedges. Also the path to the farm is very bumpy with holes and big stones. The way to Hereford the road is a bit better.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely views, great location, very friendly owner! Great walks on Offa's Dyke/Hay Bluff straight from the site.

I had no issue with it in my van, but if your vehicle is particularly low, you might have a bit of an issue with the track to the site; but absolutely worth it once you get there.
