Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Spotless toilets and showers - water pressure and heat great too. Site was clean, nice big pitches and great to have a picnic table. Peaceful location but nice 20 minute walk into Hay - good few pubs and the Thursday food market worth the walk! Very friendly staff and lovely little doggy to welcome you! Only stayed a night due to work commitments but will definitely be back!

Disliked: Nothing

From the manager: Thanks so much for your lovely review, we love it here too! We look forward to welcoming you back soon and yes, definitely worth coming for our Thursday morning food market. See you soon, Lisa & Rob

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback, we have popped a couple of solar lights outside but yes, we do agree - but good news - we have started work on our brand new pot wash area now. We will have 5 washing up stations and a dishwasher, which is great news for the person who does the washing up ! Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Really warm welcome to what is a beautifully kept site. Ablutions are immaculately clean whenever you use them.

Disliked: A really minor point (but one that is being rectified!) is the minimal pot washing area. Only 2 sinks with 1 draining board - not ideal when the site is busy. Perhaps a small shop would be beneficial?

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. Regarding the pot wash, we are already commencing works on a sparkling, large area behind the current pot wash. This will have five sinks and also... a dishwasher! Hope you can come stay again with us this year, Kind regards Lisa & Rob

Local attractions

Spreading along the banks of the River Wye, The Weir Garden (half an hour’s drive) has shaded waterside paths dotted with benches for picnics. Birdlife abounds here – from finches to mallards and woodpeckers – and if you’re lucky you might spot an otter, too. There’s also a walled garden and a glasshouse. The 13th-century cathedral in Hereford (40 minutes) holds the Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world drawn on a calf’s skin and adorned with real and mythical beasts, plus dog-headed men and one-legged people. After getting to know these unusual characters, visit the Museum of Cider, with its huge presses, and stock up on this locally made drink. To learn a thing or two about Wales’s mining history, head to the Big Pit National Coal Museum (50 minutes), which occupies a former coal mine. Don a hard hat and join the underground tour, which takes in both the coal faces and the engine houses.
