  • Seven-acre camping field behind an award-winning Cotswolds country pub
  • Five minutes' drive from Westonbirt Arboretum and Highgrove House
  • Adults-only site with veg polytunnels, orchards and garden pitches
Off to the Cotswolds? How about pitching up at a classic country pub with top-notch pub grub offering a large undercover outdoor seating area complete with an outside bar? And it being only a mile from gigs and shows at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum? You'll find this all at Tetbury Camping at The Holford Arms, an adults-only site set in a spacious seven-acre green field behind the award-winning Holford Arms pub near Tetbury in the Gloucestershire part of the Cotswolds. Meals at this restored 16th-century pub have won plaudits and prizes for their quality and variety, and always feature local produce plus own-grown fruit and vegetables from the on-site polytunnels. For a real treat, you can also add into the gourmet mix a wide selection of local gins, wine, real ale and craft beer including the pub's own pilsner and IPA. Dogs are welcome to join in all the fun in the pub and on the campsite, and please note that although this is an adult-only campsite, kids are welcome in the pub and other accommodation areas so you may see some of them around the place. Simple facilities for campsite guests include hot showers and washing-up sinks.

What customers say

This is a charming, quiet site with well-maintained, private pitches, many in a fruit tree orchard. Guests praised the friendly staff, excellent food and drinks at the on-site pub, and good value for money. Facilities, including showers and toilets, are generally good and clean, although some areas are undergoing refurbishment and could benefit from updating. The location is ideal for exploring local attractions. A few guests noted occasional noise from ongoing works and limited communication response times.

Orchard non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked All pub staff were very accommodating and friendly. The lass who did the breakfast shift for us was very nice and gave us some advice on places we could go paddleboarding which was helpful. Food was good (like 7/10). Very secure and safe feeling area, with clean bathrooms and access to drinking water. Stayed in a tent in the orchard camp site, there were only 2 other pitches there at the time which as great but I imagine if it is busy the place may feel quite crowded. Overall a very positive experience. Would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch (six person)

Liked Lovely little site. Big pitch and very quiet despite being close to main road. Nice pub grub too. Toilets were fine although might be rather busy in high season.

Disliked Not a problem for us, but make sure you have a long lead for leccy on the camper van pitches.

Paddock non-electric grass tent pitch (six person)

Liked Location, site, level ground, easy to knock in pegs. Easy to check in via the pub opening hours. Car park very close to the tents. The orchard I had lots of choice where to pitch.

Orchard non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked Well tended pitches, facilities - showers, loos, washing up area and water access all great, plenty of parking. Quite a small site which I love and great location for Badminton and Tetbury. Good value for money. The staff in the pub were friendly. Refurbishments seemed to be happening - the whole site felt like it was being looked after. Different accommodation options available. Felt safe.

Disliked Not much shade for tents but lots for camper vans. Very close to a fairly large road, check-in person was incredibly vague about where I could pitch my tent and didn’t have a record of my booking. This site is linked to a pub so I thought it would great for evening meals and breakfast (I was working so time poor) . I emailed 2 weeks before going to ask if I needed to book tables to eat. Didn’t hear back until half way through my stay that they don't take walk-ins. The kitchen is tiny so I get it but I needed to know that. Same goes for breakfast. I did manage one evening meal which was excellent. Also had one breakfast - after ordering and eating, I discovered that breakfast is a flat cost, regardless of what you have - £20 to eat in with lots of options or you can get a sausage or bacon bap with a coffee to takeaway for £10. That was the most expensive avocado on toast and coffee that I’ve ever had… I had also emailed a few days before my trip to ask another question about the campsite but didn’t get a reply to that at all. I was told by the bar staff that the owners weren’t amazing at getting back to people.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch (six person)

Liked Nice pitch, friendly and helpful staff, good food in pub

Disliked Site undergoing refurbishment so areas were piles of rubble and noise during the day. Shower block needs updating. No chemical disposal although we knew that was the case. Expensive considering these points.

It was very annoying that Pitchup informed us that the arrival time is 4pm when in fact it is 1pm. We would have gone earlier had we known.

Local attractions

If you're not here to attend big-name gig, haste ye along to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum (five minutes' drive) anyway, as this award-winning Forestry England woodland is host to all manner of events, guided walks among 15,000 specimen trees and a challenging treetop walkway. The other famous attraction close to Tetbury Camping is Highgrove House (also five minutes), where you can take guided tours of the formal gardens and enjoy champagne teas. Historic and mellow-stone market towns like Tetbury (10 minutes) and Malmesbury (15 minutes) are also nearby, ideal for a couple of hours browsing in indie boutiques and antique shops. Slightly further afield, elegant Cheltenham (45 minutes) is home to a well-known racecourse and all manner of Regency buildings including the Pittville Pump Rooms. Prefer to explore on foot or on two wheels? Take your choice from thousands of miles' worth of footpaths and bridleways in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – follow the 102-mile Cotswold Way walking trail between Bath (35 minutes) and Chipping Campden, or take shorter hops like the five-mile Shakespeare’s Way near Chipping Norton (both an hour), taking in ancient standing stones and burial chambers.
