Tetbury Camping at The Holford Arms

Liked Attractively located with a pleasant open feel, within easy distance of interesting, beautiful Cotswold countryside, the campsite is ideally placed for exploring this area.
Great pub good food
The site itself has plenty to offer - the surrounding area boasts a variety of cycle routes and tracks, lovely villages with local pubs, restaurants, and cafes.

Disliked They should upgrade or replace a worn-out, tired toilet and shower block by installing modern modular units or by carrying out a full interior refurbishment.
There was no Chemical Disposal Point (CDP) or Elsan point (black waste).
There was no drive over drive over waste disposal for motorhomes.
A single awkward tap to connect a hose and fill vehicle's clean/fresh drinking water.

Liked Its on the outskirts of Wales.
Lovely scenery.
Old country pub/bistro.

Disliked Skip full of food waste, and builders rubbish 3 metres from pitching which stank.
Litter and food cartons scattered around the skip and all around the perimeter of campsite and caravan park.

Builders waste and materials scattered all along the perimeter of where tent camping pitch is.

Areas of site that were being used as a dumping ground.

A Full septic tank, for which you can smell the effluence around the whole pitch site because of the wind direction.

Uneven ground with rabbit holes filled in with compost, rabbit droppings everywhere, and I mean everywhere.

1 shower cubicle for an acre or two campsite, not adequate enough.
Mold on tiles, no shower curtain.
Filthy floors with long black hairs everywhere.
No squeegee to mop/push clean the shower floors.

Expressed issues and was advised that I could pitch either along the pathway, or in a seating area.
Or along the hedge line.
Which meant more rabbit poop and dealing with rabbits as I slept.

Asked when skip would be taken away and they couldn't give me a date.

Asked about smell and they said it was the full septic tank and that they smell was on the wind, I tried to be polite and say that the wind direction couldn't be helped, and then was told that I could sleep somewhere else on site but they couldn't do anything about the smell, as the wind direction was not in her control.
Which is understandable but maintaining it would surely be easier.

I paid £50 for 5 nights, of which I couldn't pitch on the first or second night due to things going on at home.
Attended on the 3rd day, was offered an extension to cover my 5 nights.

This was before I had been around the site and assessed the situation.

Lastly to say, I left after being told to sleep in bushes, or a metre from path or in seating area.
Felt unwelcome and honestly like they didn't care or want me there.
Cheap price but unfortunately not a maintained site and not well managed in regards to waste disposal and general upkeep/cleaning of the site.

Was a 3 hour 45 minutes drive there and left 20 minutes after I arrived.

Liked Clean and generally a nice site

Disliked We were camping as we were working at Tough Mudder Badminton down the road, so on the Saturday we were up and out at 6AM only returning to the site at 7PM, after showering we went into the pub to have a few drinks and a hot meal, knowing we had it all to do the following day.
When we got into the pub they told us that we couldn't eat as we had not reserved a table, no one had informed us that we needed to do this, so we were extremely disappointed and nhad to call uber eats which was junk food. Very disappointing from this side of things. Also, when we went to the bar to order drinks, despite ordering the same thing each round the price was different every time. Slightly strange.

Liked The campsite layout.
The food in the pub was excellent.

Disliked We stayed at Holford Arms Camping in our VW campervan for three nights, but unfortunately found the camping experience disappointing. It appears that the site is currently undergoing renovations to transform it into a luxury events venue, and so currently the camping facilities seem to be somewhat low priority.

Our grass pitch was covered in rabbit droppings, making it unpleasant to sit outside, and Pitch 1 was noisy at night due to its location beside the pub path and shower block, despite notices asking campers to respect quiet hours.

The shower floors were very dirty, largely because of dust from the crushed-concrete track, and several cubicles had run out of toilet roll, hand towels or hand wash.

We also found one member of staff rather unwelcoming and felt that campers were an inconvenience.

Most concerning was a fire involving builders’ wood and rubbish only metres from campers, with no firefighting equipment immediately available. Two fire engines attended.

Liked All pub staff were very accommodating and friendly. The lass who did the breakfast shift for us was very nice and gave us some advice on places we could go paddleboarding which was helpful. Food was good (like 7/10). Very secure and safe feeling area, with clean bathrooms and access to drinking water. Stayed in a tent in the orchard camp site, there were only 2 other pitches there at the time which as great but I imagine if it is busy the place may feel quite crowded. Overall a very positive experience. Would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

Liked Lovely little site. Big pitch and very quiet despite being close to main road. Nice pub grub too. Toilets were fine although might be rather busy in high season.

Disliked Not a problem for us, but make sure you have a long lead for leccy on the camper van pitches.

Liked Location, site, level ground, easy to knock in pegs. Easy to check in via the pub opening hours. Car park very close to the tents. The orchard I had lots of choice where to pitch.

Liked Well tended pitches, facilities - showers, loos, washing up area and water access all great, plenty of parking. Quite a small site which I love and great location for Badminton and Tetbury. Good value for money. The staff in the pub were friendly. Refurbishments seemed to be happening - the whole site felt like it was being looked after. Different accommodation options available. Felt safe.

Disliked Not much shade for tents but lots for camper vans. Very close to a fairly large road, check-in person was incredibly vague about where I could pitch my tent and didn’t have a record of my booking. This site is linked to a pub so I thought it would great for evening meals and breakfast (I was working so time poor) . I emailed 2 weeks before going to ask if I needed to book tables to eat. Didn’t hear back until half way through my stay that they don't take walk-ins. The kitchen is tiny so I get it but I needed to know that. Same goes for breakfast. I did manage one evening meal which was excellent. Also had one breakfast - after ordering and eating, I discovered that breakfast is a flat cost, regardless of what you have - £20 to eat in with lots of options or you can get a sausage or bacon bap with a coffee to takeaway for £10. That was the most expensive avocado on toast and coffee that I’ve ever had… I had also emailed a few days before my trip to ask another question about the campsite but didn’t get a reply to that at all. I was told by the bar staff that the owners weren’t amazing at getting back to people.
