Silver Fox Café and Camping: Caravan pitch

General

  • Forest of Dean pitches on the banks of the River Severn
  • A 20-minute drive to Puzzlewood; half an hour to Symonds Yat
  • Dog-friendly café on site for breakfast and lunch seven days a week

What a location this is for an open-air stay… book a break here and you can wake up to stunning views over the River Severn before strolling over to the on-site café to get your day off to a tasty start with a cooked breakfast (or just a bacon bap and a coffee if that’s more your style…)

Silver Fox Café and Camping is in a prime position here, right on the riverbank within the Forest of Dean, and with the Gloucestershire village of Newnham about half a mile away for shops and other essentials. The A48 is handily just outside too, so you’ll be able to get out and about easily enough for activities and days out (and there are a couple of pubs close by too for a little drink once you’ve made it back).

There’s a great atmosphere at this family-run site, and it’s small enough to be able to offer a real personal service to all guests. Dogs are welcome both on site and in the café, and there’s plenty of space to spread out a little bit on the pitches. Amenities are sorted with a shower and toilet block on site.

Surely the biggest draw here though is the café, which is open seven days a week to serve up a range of breakfasts, lunches and hot and cold drinks – plus a carvery for Sunday lunch too.

Such a lovely site. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. They make your feel very welcome. Loved that this was a small site and the effort they went to In the evening was great, like having a camp fire for marshmallow and having a cute little bar that they also open in the evening, they also offer you free use of their bbq.

Thank you for a lovely time and I would defo come back again. 😀

    Disliked:

Only 1 shower but can see they are building another. The toilet block was a little unclean, but the shower was spotless which was next to the cafe.

It was great, the pitches were decently sized and the shower and toilets were very clean, staff were very friendly and the view of the river was fantastic.

    Disliked:

Not much for the younger children to do other than that it was great. The cafe was a little overpriced.

Very friendly owner, staff are very pleasent and helpful. Lovely cafe on site and a lovely pub up the road with fantastic food.

    Disliked:

Toilet block is awful, no hot water in the men's not the cleanest I must say. 1 shower for the whole campsite
There is one sink for washing up outside the toilet block with only cold water. There is alot of junk about which needs clearing away.
The campsite is right next to a busy road with a lot of noise which kept us all awake at night.

    Disliked:

We felt very cramped in the area we were in and pitches were very close together (had another camper approx 1m away from our tent). No hot water in the men's toilets or washing up area, and only boiling immersion heaters in the women's toilets.
