Woodside field pitches

  • Small but spacious adults-only motorhome park in Old Sodbury
  • A 20-minute drive to Westonbirt; half an hour to Bristol or Bath
  • Sheltered pitches close to Cotswold Way; two pubs within a short walk
What’s on the wishlist for a place to park your motorhome? Peace and quiet? Plenty of space? Pub within walking distance? If so, it’s a win-win-win for Woodside Field Motorhome Park, a south Gloucestershire site on the western edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape. It’s an adults-only setup here, so you won’t have any noisy kids to contend with – and despite being a sizeable property there are only a handful of pitches, so everyone gets plenty of space to spread out and relax. Pitches are part of a large open field surrounded by hedges and a small woodland area, so it’s all nicely sheltered too (and it’s easy to go for a wander in the woods too…) The park only accepts motorhomes and campervans (no tents or roof tents), and provides basic facilities to keep those rolling homes in good order – these include a water supply, chemical waste disposal point and a drive-over grey waste point. Guests are welcome to bring dogs along with them as long as they’re well behaved and kept on a lead (and the site is kept clean). Handily, all of this is only a couple of miles from the M4 so you won’t have to navigate lots of little lanes to get in. All sorts of days out are easily sorted from here, including countryside rambles and bike rides on the Cotswold Way (which passes about 10 minutes’ walk away), visits to Westonbirt Arboretum or outings to Bristol and Bath. And the pub? Good news… the park is on the edge of the village of Old Sodbury, which has two pubs (both serving food) within 15 minutes’ walk, plus a convenience store and bus stops.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked This must be one of the most well laid out campsite we have stayed in (and we have been on in our motorhome for almost a year!).

Everything you need as you drive in - like little pit stops - as you head to find a nice level spot.

The grounds are immaculately kept and everything is well thought of. The hosts were friendly and professional. We could see a lot of love and attention to detail went into setting up for comfortable stay.

Dogs to be kept on leads which is understandable considering all the deer and little rabbits that come right up to your door. An oasis just off the M4 ... a winner!

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Wow what a fantastic site. Me, my girlfriend and our little dog visited on Saturday for the night as we were babysitting our granddaughter the night before and were in the area. We were welcomed by Helen who had half a dozen eggs that we ordered waiting for us. The site is very clean, with fresh water taps, toilet waste, grey water waste and recycling facilities. Also a lovely woodland area to walk around. We will definitely be back.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Beautifully maintained space. Surprisingly quiet apart from the pheasant that was obviously feeling lonesome. Lovely site owners. Right next to the pub.
As advertised, there are no toilet or shower facilities. You bring everything you need with you in your van. Had a lovely chat with Brian and Helen and bought firewood and really fresh eggs. Looking forward to going again on a crafting weekend. Nice little walk available in the woods next to the site or you can get on the Cotswold Way in a few minutes.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked We loved this place, greeted on arrival and given wi-fi code which we were not expecting as we thought it was literally just a field. So neat and tidy everything placed nicely around the field. Grass was lovely, cut beautifully with no mud patches at all. There was a little woodland to walk to dog around. Easy walking distance to local pub. We parked backing onto the hedgerow and there was some squirrels running around which was great to watch. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic table having a cuppa after arrival. Nice to be able to sit outside somewhere as we hadn't brought chairs! We found this site to be peaceful and quiet and would definitely stay again.

Disliked nothing really, the only thing you need to do before arrival is study the road lay out as you need to be able to come up the road in a certain direction to get up the lane, but it's not a big issue and worth it for sure :)

Local attractions

Up for a walk? The Cotswold Way is about 10 minutes away on foot, or you can follow a lovely circular walk past the village church and hill fort, ending (rather conveniently) at the pub. The Cotswolds National Landscape has plenty more walks and cycle routes to offer, and it’s a fruitful area for geocaching too. Elsewhere around the area, you may like to play golf in Chipping Sodbury (five minutes’ drive), take a walk around pretty Castle Combe (15 minutes), explore the elegant National Trust property Dyrham Park (15 minutes) or wander around Westonbirt, The National Arboretum (20 minutes). This is also a handy spot for outings to the Badminton Horse Trials (10 minutes). Mixing up the countryside with some urban time is easy around here – Bristol and Bath are both about half an hour’s drive away or accessible by public transport.
