  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally-produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Friendly staff. Big size pitches. Clean facilities. Great food in pub. 10/10. We went for a birthday had music and bbq. No one complain. Everyone was lovely. The landlady was so kind as to give us a lift into town center and some local information. Friendliest people in Tewkesbury I have ever met.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: As newbys to touring we’d hired a camper to travel to Newquay with stop offs along the way. A long enough journey but was greeted late by Gareth at Hunters Inn with a smile and an upgrade. Shame we didn’t enjoy more hospitality as was too late but spent a lovely night on a beautiful peaceful site. We’d definitely recommend it, a lovely country pub worth another visit 👍

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Our second stay here was as good as the first. All staff are friendly and helpful, especially Vicky who remembered us from our previous visit. She even remembered our dog’s name and that Indie is reactive so had booked us a dinner table away from another booking with a dog. Food was so good and is one of the main reasons we chose to return here as a handy stop on our way to Devon. We were able to upgrade from a non electric pitch to one with electric. This place is a great stopover and we will return again.

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely review, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed this visit as well as your last, we hope Indie enjoyed as well!

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The site is brilliantly located for a visit into Tewkesbury town centre 9 minutes in a car. A well managed and clean site with toilet, shower and washing up facilities. There is a pub on the grounds offering food and beverages which is also dog friendly. There was a party on the first night we stayed, we received a phone call prior to our stay to let us know, the party had finished by 11/12pm and did not affect us camping, no excessive noise. Rural and quiet location with friendly owners and staff. Camping pitches were spacious and well maintained. Would definitely return :-)

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as an historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
