Pub

  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

What customers say

This campsite benefits from a fantastic on-site pub serving excellent food. Pitches are generally spacious and level, with friendly and helpful staff. Many reviews highlight the pub's quality and atmosphere. The main area for improvement noted by guests is the toilet and shower block, which is described as basic and in need of updating. However, manager replies indicate a new block is under construction.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Great site facilities are the best we have used. Toilets and showers are modern clean spacious and have hairdryers. The pub staff were friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. Look forward to coming back again. Great base to go to Tewkesbury Upton and ledbury. On a road but very little noise at all from that.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked We only had one night at the Hunters Inn but were still very much impressed. The hard standing pitches were nice and wide, we opted for electric hook-up and were quickly set up. They had a very new shower/toilet block, where each cubicle was a self contained, spacious, toilet and shower combo. Each also had a heated towel radiator, a hot air blower a basin a hair dryer and electric razor point. The site itself is located close enough to major roads and towns for convenience but far enough to be a beautiful scenic place in the country to relax.

Disliked We didn't have time to find any particular dislikes, there wouldn't have been anything significant.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Lovely place and great pitch. Shower block and toilets brand new and really lovely and modern. Pub looked lovely and good us supposed to be very good but we didn’t use it.

Disliked Only negative, we weren’t advised a private party was booked into their garden marquee in the evening so was very loud music until around 11pm.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Lovely stay, functions on both nights promptly finished at reasonable time. Friendly staff, great clean shower rooms and individual x 5 altogether. Dogs welcome on lead. We walked to Tewkesbury no footpaths though most of way on road but doable. Beautiful weather was a bonus on the Saturday.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as a historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills National Landscape, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
