Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: A lovely welcome site, very clean and well kept. Facilities were spotless and easily accessible. The little shop has lovely fresh coffee and pastries which I recommend. The town is a short walk with pubs, restaurants and take aways which were welcoming. We travelled with 2 dogs and they enjoyed the walks, including a walk through the forest which was a short drive away. We will definitely return to Greenacres.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The facilities were okay but not enough. If your pitch was at the far end of the fields you had a very long walk to the toilets. It was also very hilly.

Disliked: The curfew rules were not Marshall people were talking and drinking till way after midnight.

Local attractions

Outdoorsy types are well catered to around here, with canoeing and paddleboarding at Symonds Yat Rock, archery and clay pigeon shooting in St Briavels, and pony trekking at Bream. If you're into golfing, then you're also in luck: Coleford has two courses, both less than 10 minutes' drive away. Follow the walking trail through the ancient 14-acre forest of Puzzlewood – the location for the filming of Dr Who, Star Wars, Merlin and Atlantis – to see rock formations and twisted trees, or visit Clearwell Caves to learn about the forest's 4,500-year ore and ochre mining heritage, both within a couple of easy miles of the site. Heaps of historic spots are within easy reach of Greenacres Campsite too, including Tintern Abbey's ruins and the castles of Raglan, Goodrich and Chepstow. The Dean Heritage Centre is a short drive away in the valley of Soudley, and comes highly recommended by Greenacres staff.
