What customers say
Broadstone Retreat offers a unique glamping experience in a beautiful, natural setting. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful host, Richard, the well-decorated and cosy bell tents (often equipped with wood burners), and the convenient on-site kitchen and shower facilities. The bar serving pizza and drinks is a popular amenity. Some guests experienced temporary issues with shower water temperature in August 2024, which the manager states has been rectified. Minor points raised include the suitability of a futon as a fourth bed and occasional toilet roll shortages.

Excellent run camp site with lovely staff.
The Fox bell tent
Liked Excellent place to stay. Me and my family loved it inside the fox bell tent, we stayed from the 3rd to the 5th of August.
The views are lovely, the bell tent is spacious and very nicely decorated to give it a warm and cosy feel, I must say the bed is very comfy, which I don't normally find when staying away. I liked that there was ample of little lights inside the tent, and fairy lights, it give off a very nice relaxing vibe at night.
The toilets were lovely, clean and nicely decorated, I seen someone had previously put a comment on saying the water went cold, this problem has now been fixed, and the shower is great.
I was shocked to find the fridge had a ice dispenser, that was a real nice touch and well needed on a hot day. The fridge and freezer is the huge to fit plenty in, also allowing room for other bell tent users.
Everything you need is on the kitchen (bell tent users only) from fire lighter cubes, plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery.
The staff are very welcoming, Emma always got back to us straight away with any questions we had.
The bar had plenty of darft beers to chose from, very enjoyable cold pint. The pizzas are totally beutiful, hats off to the chef. 10/10. Plenty of options for the kids with sweets, milkshakes and i think ice creams were available. The prices were very fair too, especially for the fishing.
The local animals that live on the site are very well looked after, and is nice to see roaming around, local wildlife is also present throughout the stay with dragonflies, buzzards, goshhawks, sparrow hawks, deer if you're lucky enough to see them in the woods.
They have a great fishing pond, the site is very well looked after and extremely clean.
We would love to stay here again soon.
Disliked COMING HOME.

The Bumblebee bell tent
Liked This is beautiful campsite with good facilities and very well situated for exploring the Forest of Dean
Disliked Our stay was sadly ruined by rodent burrows underneath our glamping tent which clearly had not been taken down for and checked for some time. There were numerous animal holes very near to the pitch. We saw a rodent very obviously moving underneath the matting of the tent and making loud chewing noises late in the evening and had to move out of the tent to another thankfully free glamping tent. On further inspection, it was possible to feel that there were clearly many holes underneath the tent. My 2 children were very upset and frightened. The site owner was not able to offer us another alternative for the second night of our stay other than a refund for the 2nd night so our stay was cut short. Very disappointing indeed. Considering the cost of the glamping option especially, this part of the site was clearly rather neglected

The Bumblebee bell tent
Liked Amazing spot, friendly staff, great sitting outside by the pond & having a beer with great onsite pizza.
Great places nearby Raglan Castle, the Wye valley, Monmouth, the fairytale Forest of Dean. Great pubs if you fancy a stroll.
It’s an idyllic spot.
Will definitely be back.

Fab camp site, pizza on site…
The Bumblebee bell tent
Liked Fab camp site, pizza on site was delicious, location was great all in close range to many attractions such as puzzle wood and Symonds Yat rock. There was music on in the evenings for entertainment. Was a good addition having a kitchen with usable fridge.
Disliked The 4th bed is more like a camping chair folded over which isn’t great for an adult. The bathroom seemed to run out of toilet roll we had to supply our own one day.

The Hare bell tent
Liked Great communication, with friendly check-in and great service.
The site is wellmlaid out, with some beautiful lakes full of fish. The bell tent that we stayed in was well positioned and beautifully decorated.
The bed was large and clean, with a plentiful supply of logs for the internal stove and outside chimney. Tea and coffee etc was supplied and only a short walk away in the kitchen room.
Showers and toilets were clean and well kept.
Stunning views from the tent and lake area.
We'll be staying again soon.

The Pheasant bell tent
Liked Lovely, clean, cosy and organised site. Friendly welcome and beautiful location. Great Lakes with fishing. Fab location. Pizza was amazing.
Disliked Would have preferred the second bed to be a proper bed rather than futon even if we needed to pay extra for it.

The Fox bell tent
Liked Everything!
Quiet! Friendly.
The bell tent was a good size, beautifully made up and clean.
Bedding smelt lovely.
Log burner inside the tent and outside BBQ and log burner, all logs supplied.
Beautiful toilets and showers, well looked after.
Big fridge freezer really useful.
Lots of solar lights outside round each tent so a torch was not needed to go to the bathroom at night.
Small bar and pizzas available on site.
Disliked Nothing!

Family friendly glamping with friendly host and beautiful surroundings
The Bumblebee bell tent
Liked The host was really great, he informed us of what was where.l and then left us to it. The tent itself was beautifully set out, we stayed in Bumble bee, which was very cute with bee furnishings. Very clean and comfortable and all the home comforts you could need were well thought through and provided. A family friendly site too which was great for us. A great value night in a beautiful setting.
Disliked The only minor thing I can think of was that the showers went cold when someone flushed or used a tap. This was only brief and I didn't mind but might be cold in the winter. Could probably be avoided if you checked with other guest too about water use while showering. Not a dislike but a to be aware of - there is a lake near the tents so very small children need to be watched closely, but they do anywhere really.
