What customers say

Reviewers consistently praise the exceptionally large, private pitches, often screened by tall hedges, offering a peaceful and secluded experience. Many appreciate the convenience of having water and electricity on each pitch. The location is highlighted as excellent for walks. However, the lack of on-site toilet and shower facilities is a recurring downside, with some guests noting the site appears in need of general maintenance and TLC, and the "Country Club" name is considered misleading.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Big space for van .very quiet as only people on site.
Lovely meal at pub .

Disliked No shower block.
Not a easy walk with fishing tackle to ponds. little plank across river made it so we could only carry so much at a time .
Use to be a fantastic camping ground gone down hill .
No phone signal or WiFi. We carry EpiPens so it's a important one that we can ring a ambulance if needed.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Very quite and beautiful and privet due to the high hedges between pitch’s.

Disliked Their are only of things (1) no signage saying you have arrived and no onsite (2) reception and no wardens (3) no toilet and shower and pot washing or laundry or gray waist disposal.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The pitches were great. The privacy hedges, gravel stoned , extremely private.

Disliked Poor signage on site, difficult to find. Noone on site to welcome. The constant barking of dogs, seriously non stop, somewhere from houses nearby.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Great site with massive pitches, great to unwind and relax for a couple of days, pub within walking distance (would advise booking). The site itself has no amenities but this was ok for us as we are self contained.

Disliked not really a dislike, but the entrance to the site it a little confusing not signposted, walk down to the fishing lakes no obvious route from site. when you read country club you expect country club vibes, but this is not the case, the site appeared to previously be a lot more than it is today, rather run down which is a shame as it could be quite a special place to unwind, with a revamp of the onsite facilities, signposts down to the fishing lakes from site with advertisement for the cafe.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Pitch sizes, privacy, location, beautiful fishing lakes.
This is one of our favourite locations you cannot find pitches of this size and with this level of privacy any where else. No WiFi and different to get a phone signal but this is a positive as you totally switch off and relax.
Truly a wonderful peaceful place

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The best thing about this site is the privacy with each pitch encircles by a hedge, with a hard standing in each together with a grassy area.
This hedge also gave a nice shaded area in the very hot weather we had when were there.
Plenty of walks direct from site around the various fishing lakes, where there is also a café at the far end.
One point of caution, if you are in a motorhome and decide to drive to the café then there is a narrow bridge just before the entrance, its very tight but it can be done if the vehicle is not one of the very large types, there are no warnings as far as I could see.
I gave 9 as nothing is perfect

Local attractions

Checking out Chatsworth House (20 minutes’ drive) is a must while you’re here – this stately home is set in vast parkland edged by woodland, craggy hills and heather moors, so it’s an excellent choice for explores on foot. Inside the posh pad is a sizeable collection of art, ranging from Old Masters' drawings to neoclassical sculptures. Bakewell – yes, home of the tasty tarts – is also a sweet spot for a stroll thanks to having old cottages, tiny alleys and tucked-away courtyards to totter around, as well as a river to roam beside (20 minutes). If you’re an eager trekker seeking more of a challenge, mosey along the Monsal Trail starting from Coombs Viaduct, a mile south east of Bakewell, and leading 8.5 miles to Topley Pike junction in Wye Dale, passing by Peak District hotspots like Headstone Viaduct, Cressbrook Mill and Litton Mill enroute. Further on (around 50 minutes) are other popular places for pottering around, like Dovedale valley with its wooded ravine and the 517-metre Mam Tor hill near Castleton, christened one of the Seven Wonders of the Peak by 17th-century philosopher Thomas Hobbes because of its dreamy views.
