What customers say

This campsite offers a peaceful and spacious experience in a great location, praised for its quiet atmosphere and proximity to forest walks and Matlock Bath. Guests appreciated the flat ground, helpful staff, and clean portaloos. While some found it basic and overpriced, lacking showers and EHU, many enjoyed the privacy, views, and quiet environment, with plans to return.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Friendly welcome, shown directly to the site, welcome pack with informative information.

Quiet location, flat pitch, toilets, and drinking water tap.

Disliked Pitch close to a popular lay-by. Park closed at 4.30 so we was a bit unsure about check in.

Liked Perfect quiet spot with the farm park within walking distance kids had a great time running round and playing in the field. We also had a great time with our bug finder kit there was plenty of unusual bugs to catch and see.

Michelle S.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The quietness

Disliked No drainage at the water taps, the grass isn't looked after, the portable toilets weren't very good and it was the first day of opening, luckily we took our own portaloo. Quite expensive for one night literally in a field that isn't taken care of.

From the manager: Hi Michelle,

We're sorry you had problems during your stay with us. If you had contacted us we could have resolved any issues,

Unfortunately due to the weather/heat the grass hasn't been great but we do try to keep it maintained and kept short on a regular basis.

The toilets have now been reported and fixed.

Quite only guests there which was nice and peaceful…

Local attractions

The extensive estate at Chatsworth (20 minutes’ drive) has lots to do, so you can easily make a day of it, splitting your hours between house tours, garden walks and time spent at the adventure playground and farmyard. Something similar could be said of Gulliver’s Kingdom (15 minutes), which has enough rides, playgrounds and themed areas to keep you going all day long. If you’d rather stick to natural attractions, there are plenty of those in the Peak District National Park – perhaps you’d like to see some of the scenery on a bike ride along the traffic-free Tissington Trail from Ashbourne or while jumping across the Dovedale stepping stones (both 35 minutes). Brave souls may like to see the scenery from above on a cable car ride at Heights of Abraham (15 minutes), which has a hilltop park with caverns to explore. Back down at ground level, you can instead ride on historic vehicles at Crich Tramway Village (15 minutes).
