Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The site was very clean, toilets were warm with nice showers, we were able to choose our pitch (camping no electric)

Disliked: Bit of road noise in the morning due to being near a main road

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Toilets and showers clean and modern although on the Sunday there wasn’t any toilet roll

Disliked: Pitches on a slope. The airbed slipped through the night

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: New toilets were clean

Disliked: Camping pitches are on a steep hill making sleeping uncomfortable. All the tables and chairs had to be on an angle making the use dangerous. We asked to move to a vacant pitch that was better and we were told no! The surrounding roads are used by motor bikes as a race track and the engines can be heard for miles at all times of the day. The grass was cut on multiple evenings late in the evening spoiling our BBQ and quite time. Be careful of addons for everything!

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: It was a really clean and tidy site. Toilets and showers were new, modern and clean. Washing up facilities were nice, and were outside but under cover. Nice play area for kids. No noisy neighbours. We'll stocked little shop on site for essentials. Friendly, helpful staff.

Disliked: There is a recycling site nearby and the reversing beep of the trucks was noticeable. It's unfortunate for such a nice rural location to have that.

Local attractions

This is Austen country, so you can barely turn around without tripping over some stately pile of bricks... If you fancy gliding around as if you own the place, adopt an air of wealth and superiority and head to Kedleston Hall, Sudbury Hall (with its Museum of Childhood), Hardwick Hall, Chatsworth House and The Old Manor, all within roughly half an hour’s drive of Newhaven, then chauffeur yourself over to Melbourne Hall, just under an hour away. Hols with kids are pretty easy in these parts too, as there’s absolutely oodles to distract them with within an hour of the site: make your way to Matlock for the Heights of Abraham alpine cable car and Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park (and the Crich Tramway Museum, Peak District Mining Museum and Masson Mills for some grownup sanity). Also get along to Buxton for treetop adventuring at Go Ape; underground exploration at Poole’s Cavern, and Alton Towers for some adrenaline-fuelled rides. If traipsing around on land isn’t really floating your boat, spend a day (or two) at Carsington Water, less than half an hour away, for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, powerboating and fishing, or head to WaterWorld (just outside Stoke-on-Trent) for some indoor waterpark splashing around.
