Electric grass pitch

Liked Great views, spacious pitches with taps and electric hookups close by. Toilets and shower were maintained and acceptable, but basic. The animals in the fields nearby were so lovely to see. Nice small site with perhaps only 20 pitches. Nice and calm site with people having a fun and relaxing time, but respectful to others. Good vibes!

Disliked A little noisy with the farm animals, was OK for us, but thought should mention it for those who need a full nights’ sleep.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Loved the campsite, facilities were clean and well kept. We had pitch next to the cows and sheep and loved watching them

Disliked No onsite campsite manager meant some people didn't pitch up in pitches we got unlucky with someone pitching their tent directly next to us instead of the middle of the pitch so we didn't have much privacy and the noise level was louder and a campervan coming in very late each night (10.15pm) and pitching on the side of our pitch

Electric grass pitch

Liked Fuss free stay during wet weekend when just one other camper present.

Beautiful Deep Dale very close and had wonderful walk to see May orchids and toothworts.

Didn’t see any site owners but they were quick to reply to messages and would no doubt have been present when needed.

no real wind/rain shelter spots, as sits on top of hills - but though exposed you have beautiful views.

Disliked Single shower and three toilets were more than adequate, but could be challenging if the site is full.

What customers say

This is a peaceful and quiet campsite with lovely rural views and plenty of space. Pitches are generally large, level and well-maintained, with water and electric hook-up available. Visitors appreciated the friendly and helpful owners and the presence of farm animals. While facilities are described as basic, they are generally reported as clean, though some found them limited and in need of updating, particularly the single shower. The location is considered ideal for exploring the Peak District.

Route directions

The entrance to the site is on Flagg Lane (not The Jarnett). There is a signpost opposite the turning for Long Field Farm and Lane End Farm Trust. Look out for the fixed sheep pens at the top of the track, then follow the lane down to the site entrance on the right and look for your numbered pitch. If you type Lane End Farm Trust into your sat nav that should take you to the campsite.

Local attractions

If your walking boots are a camping essential, take them over to the Tissington Trail for a fine 13-mile route through the Derbyshire countryside. The route commences a 25-minute drive away in Ashbourne. For a shorter trail, the Monsal Trail is 15 minutes away – it's easier on the feet with a less demanding 8.5-mile route. For adrenaline seekers, Carsington Water is half an hour’s drive away. Here, you can hire kayaking kit or try out windsurfing if you're feeling extra ambitious. If watersports aren't your strong suit, their taster sessions will help to ease you in to the relevant techniques. For other activities that will raise your heart rate, there’s an outdoor pool in Hathersage 25 minutes away and several indoor pools within a 25-minute drive. Further afield, take a whirl on the rollercoasters at Alton Towers, a 40-minute drive away and with plenty to fill a full day. At Matlock Farm Park (30 minutes), a collection of cute animals should keep kids entertained; they can give horse riding a go too or gently feed the lambs if they're seeking some quieter time.
