Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful views, the ice cream was fantastic and worth the queue.

Disliked: Very basic, some electric hook ups were a bit far from the pitches so you need a long hook up. Water point difficult to use as you can’t connect a standard hose fitting. We booked for 2 nights but the weather was awful so we only stayed for 1 night.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: It was Well Kept, friendly staff & good location to Bakewell and Chatsworth House Quite considering it a farm Incredibly good ice cream shop.

Disliked: ZERO SECURITY never slept for 2 nights, I was in a pitch black field at the side of a road alone, the access gate was left open all night. No one around. You might as well park in a layby and save £25 Cutting the grass with a tractor at 8am right next to me. Smell of cow *hit, and lots of flies The directions on Pitch up sent me into Whim Farm instead, luckily I had a camper or would not have been able to turn around or reverse out. NO SIGN to indicate the entrace to the field/ instructions say check in at Dairy, if you drive in with caravan you aint getting out., was stressful enough trying the back my camper out with all the cars. ** please buy a heavy duty motorcycle combination lock for the gate and email people the code***

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Loved the ice cream and milkshake from the shop and the walks you could do from the campsite was good. My children in joyed watching the cows being milked and watching them walking to the farm over the fence.

Disliked: There was sometimes a smell from the cows in the farm but not enough to stop you from siting outside when weather is good. The campsite is quite high up and is exposed to the winds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Small, easy to manoeuvre, self explanatory site.

Disliked: Signs on entry says check allocated pitch number on booking. Doesn’t exist. Confused us, as we arrived after shutting of the ice cream shop. Queue at the ice cream shop just to say you’re there seemed excessive, almost like they don’t know who’s arriving or going, as long as we were on a hard tanging or grass as per booking.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Very quiet little site. fab for the 3 of us and our puppy. Due to working Saturdays, I phoned ahead that we will be arriving late, they were very accommodating and understanding.

Disliked: no toilets/showers, to be fair we knew this anyway when booking.

Local attractions

Take the 10-minute drive to Bakewell to sample the famed pudding that takes its name, then head out on the Monsal Trail, a great 8.5-mile trail that runs through some spectacular scenery and takes in old railway tunnels along the way too. The Tissington Trail is a couple of miles away for more walking, while Miller’s Dale (15 minutes’ drive) and Dovedale (25 minutes) are also good picks for a hike. Head to Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (five minutes) or Hidden Druids Caves (20 minutes) to mix a hit of history in with your rambles. A wander around the spa town of Buxton (15 minutes) is a rather more gentle way to spend a day – although it does also have a Go Ape adventure park for any restless types that need more activity. There’s plenty to keep you busy on a day out at the Chatsworth estate: explore the house and gardens, meet the animals at the farmyard or let the kids go wild on the playground’s rope park, water play area and trampoline.
