  • Well-maintained site on a farm in the Peak District National Park
  • Walking distance to the Tissington Trail, Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud
  • Dog-friendly pitches; 20 minutes’ walk to the local pub
When the scenery is this spectacular, you don’t need to add many extra attractions to create a great little place to stay. That’s the (very sensible) approach at Hollington End Farm, a working farm surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Peak District National Park. The owners here have chosen to keep things simple for that true feeling of being immersed in these fabulous Derbyshire surroundings. There are no guest toilets or showers so you’ll need to be self-contained on the bathroom front, but you’ll have access to a chemical disposal point. Pitches are in a part-sloping field with plenty of space for awnings, barbecues and camping chairs, so get yourselves set up how you like and then put your feet up to admire the splendid views. Need some barbecue supplies? The town of Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive away) is a good place to find shops of all sorts, along with a few places to eat. If you’re more in the mood for a pub dinner, take a 20-minute walk across the farm’s fields to the pub in Thorpe. Heading the other way, a 20-minute stroll gets you to Tissington for a tea room overlooking the village duck pond. Keen to stretch your legs a bit more? A public footpath crossing the site takes you out onto endless miles of trails through the stunning scenery, including routes to Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. And there’s good news for any hopeful wagging tails out there too – this site welcomes dogs, so they’ll be welcome to join you for a scenic stay and a walk or two.

What customers say

This is a quiet, friendly, and well-kept small campsite on a working farm, praised for its beautiful scenery and excellent location for walking and cycling. Owners are frequently noted as helpful and welcoming. While basic with no toilet or shower facilities, it's considered good value for money. Some pitches are on a slope, and levelling blocks are recommended. Nearby amenities include a pub and easy access to popular walking routes like the Tissington Trail and Dovedale.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked We loved the quiet space, waking up in the morning looking at the sheep that was just across the wall to us.
It is peaceful and relaxed and great for adults. We had our dog with us who is anxious reactive but it was not an issue as the pitches are nicely spaced and even with most people there had there own dogs everyone was respectful of each others spaces.
You had easy access to walks across the field straight off the site and Tissington trail was 3 minutes away.
The farm also sell there own meat on site and the owner was a wonderful lady who was chatty and helpful.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We arrived to the campsite quite late, our first time out in our tourer. The owners of this site were so helpful and unbelievably kind. Very chilled and peaceful atmosphere and nothing is too far. Pitches are very spaced out and just left to enjoy our time, we loved it. Will defiantly be back. Thank you!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The peace and quiet.
Remote Location.

Disliked Not a single level pitch.
Booking a hard standing pitch and having to pitch on grass because there are no hard standing pitches.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely location with wonderful walks all around. The owner is very helpful , allowed us to turn up and leave and times of our choice, also given lots of information about the surrounding area on paper.
Leads supped if your hook up isn’t long enough.

Disliked The road that this farm is on is the road between Ashbourne and Buxton and as such the traffic can be noisy and cars go very fast. We stayed near the road so maybe a higher pitch would be better.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Unfortunately the road has been busier than normal this summer due to the 'Ashbourne Reborn' project causing traffic issues in Ashbourne and people using the country roads to avoid it. Should revert back to normal soon!

Local attractions

Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive) is more than just a handy place for shops – it’s also a lovely place for a wander, with heritage buildings, cobbled streets and a Thursday market. It’s also the starting point for the 13-mile Tissington Trail, a traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists; bikes can be hired locally. Delving further into the Peak District National Park might take you to places like Dovedale (five minutes), Thor’s Cave (15 minutes) and Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (15 minutes) or to popular towns like Buxton and Bakewell (both 25 minutes). Haddon Hall (25 minutes) and Chatsworth House (half an hour) both make excellent outings if you like to explore grand historic buildings. Just outside the national park’s boundaries, the cable car at Heights of Abraham (half an hour) is a great way to see some of the scenery from above. If that’s not quite enough of a thrill, try a day on the rollercoasters of Alton Towers (25 minutes) – or the rides of Gulliver’s Kingdom (25 minutes) if you’ve got smaller kids.
