Shepherd's hut
Liked Location and peace and quiet, dark skies, pub nearby with badger feeding at dusk. Rydal water a short walk away and lovely for swimming and paddle boarding. Nice coffin route walk to Grasmere. Also on the route for Fairfield horseshoe walk. BBQ pit and wood for stove provided.
Disliked Top bunk VERY close to ceiling. Our 14 year old daughter found it very tight and banged her head in the night a couple of times. A large adult would certainly struggle.
Main toilet block a long way away. Would have liked a bit more info on this as we had to find it all ourselves. And didn't realise til near the end that the brass keys provided open door of nearest cafe toilet block when they're locked at night.
Owner came on site early last morning and started cleaning other vans etc. Didn't even say hello. Spoilt the peacefulness and felt a bit awkward. We went for a walk just before leaving and owner was in cleaning our van when we got back and it wasn't even 11am which is the time to vacate.

From the manager: Hi Ben Thank you for your feedback. I do make it clear that the top bunk is for a child only, not an adult. The check out time is 10am not 11am, especially in the busy season. Apologies for not saying hello, I thought I was being polite by leaving you to your morning activities. Best wishes Sarah
