Non-electric grass pitch
Liked It’s a nice field and the check in process is good, bring some cash to get shower tokens!
The team running it seem nice too. Decent space in the field generally, quiet and away from major roads, not far from cool stuff in Forest of Dean area.
Has 3 toilets, 2 showers, and they are kept very clean. Also a good recycling area, field is cut and trimmed nicely, generally very well kept. It’s a bare basics campsite but it’s well arranged and thought out.
Disliked Because the field is a on a slope, there’s only really space for around 15 pitches, and that depends how selfish people around you are. Everyone ends up on the top of the slope and then the rest of the field is empty, if you’re arriving late you may end up pitching on a steep slope.
Toilets and showers and clean and good but there’s only 3 toilets and 2 showers, unisex, so you feel a bit pressured when a queue starts in the evening. I think they really need like 2 more of each in the summer at least.
Might just be timing but there was a slightly bad smell around the toilet area when we visited. The block is all clean, but maybe some of the pipe work needed attention…

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Loved this place - really quiet campsite with a beautiful lake setting. Very small amount of tents even on a busy hot bank holiday, so plenty of space to pitch and feels very private and peaceful. It’s very much “out of the way” from any crowded areas.
They communicate so well, text me to give me arrival tips, and made sure we didn’t get lost. Really lovely owner.
Shower and toilet very clean too - it’s a big shower room, which is so nice compared to most sites. Shower is totally worth it for £1 - just make sure you have one!
and even though the site itself is down many small country lanes, it is signposted pretty well. We didn’t really realise it was a fishing place until after we booked it but that actually makes it great for campers, because it’s silent and not so busy.
Disliked Because there’s only 1 male and 1 female toilet, and 1 unisex shower - it means there can be queues, most people are wanting to use that in the evening. Ideally 1 more of each would be amazing … however because they limit numbers it’s not that bad. And if you are waiting, at least there’s a beautiful view. So it’s a very minor point.

From the manager: Thank you for your review - we are so pleased you enjoyed staying with us and liked the secluded side of things. Even though we were at capacity over the bank holiday we’re so lucky to have plenty of space for people to spread out. We do have plans for more toilets and another shower when we’re able to but like you say at least the view is nice while you wait :-) Thank you!

Main non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Decent toilet block and showers, very clean and lots of toilets and showers so that’s the best bit. good setup in general. Better to pitch tents in the woodland side then the fields because they are served by port-a-loo’s and are a long walk to the shower block.
Shop on site is useful and although we didn’t eat at the pizza bit it was nice to have the option and it smelt good.
Refuse area is a bonus, even a place for used ashes from fires - which is excellent.
Decent space for pitches, didn’t feel too overcrowded even if it was busy. Helpful staff at reception and well organised!
Disliked Only downside to the woodland side is the ground can of course have some bumpy or rooted terrain for tent users. That’s pretty nit picky though!

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Nice field easy enough to get to, lots of space and they check in on you minimally. Good bin system, good water presssure, all the basic amenities you need. It’s super basic but for stopping for a night or two it’s all you need.
View across to the hills and sea are amazing! Worth it for that.
Disliked There’s 3 toilets and 2 showers, unisex shared - when the field is full, the evening leads to a big queue for showers and toilet use, which is annoying. Maybe it’s just at busy periods but you ideally need a couple more of each.
Also showers are 2 x 50p - it’s a great shower for the price but 50p coins are SO hard to get hold of!
