Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch (hot tub)
Liked Beautiful location
Lovely views
Hot tub
Great concept
Disliked We were not the only pitch on site there was another camper and tent on the playing field.
We did not have lots of space to play games as the playing field could not be used and the grass on our pitch could not be used between 10-3 (alpaca experience time) and our toys were moved.
People were passing past a lot (visiting the owners next door to the pitch) and the pitch decking/hot tub is in full view of this walkway.
We knew we had access to toilets/shower but had not realised this meant the toilet being used between 10-3 by alpaca visitors. The location of the toilet behind your campervan is not a good set up.
The alpaca experience takes place just in front of the pitch decking/hot tub so you cannot relax on the decking, enjoy your lunch or enjoy the hot tub without an audience.
We were advised on the Saturday about 8pm that there was a horse event taking place on site the following day. They were expecting 150 horses and their owners would be using the one toilet behind our campervan from 9am. We set our alarm to get up and get packed up before this happened. Unfortunately people were arriving from 7.30 which meant we could not enjoy breakfast, have a last dip on the hot tub or have a shower beforehand. Had we known about this we would have postponed/cancelled our visit.
Other dogs running free around the pitch where our dog, children and things were.
In conclusion we only got to experience the peace and privacy described on one evening. The lots of space to play did not exist. One of the things that attracted us to the site was the hot tub and we could hardly use it. There were lots of unwanted added extras such as feeling like we were part of the alpaca experience in full view of everyone, extra pets and the opportunity to share germs with lots of unknown strangers.
We did feedback our experience to the owner straight after we left but got no response until we followed it up. We were offered £20 as a “goodwill gesture” but declined as it felt like an insult given how different we found the site to what was described.
