What customers say

This friendly, peaceful site is praised for its great location, steps from the West Somerset Railway, Quantock Brewery, & village amenities. Spacious, level pitches. Facilities are basic but clean, though some felt they could be improved. Welcoming owners, farm animals, and many plan to return.

Liked Everything. Proper site, flat, quiet, decent toilets and showers. Chickens wandering about were amusing. Bishops Lydeard is a 10-15 min flat walk, has a Coop and a very nice, traditional pub The Bird in Hand. The Quantock Brewery next to the Steam Train station is excellent, lovely beer and visiting street food vendors, it was very popular.

Liked Nice quiet site with a wild camping vibe, good location and fair pricing. Karen was friendly and helpful and the chickens and bantams kept us entertained. Steam railway and brewery tap room with music and food just a short stroll away.

Disliked Can't complain for what you pay, facilities basic but adequate. Shame fresh laid eggs were not available to buy.

Liked Fantastic location, near a lovely town, with pubs , tea rooms and shops. A brewery and tap room just up the road too. Beautiful countryside around which we explored on our bikes. Steam train to Minehead too.
The hosts were really helpful and have the most amazing garden.

Liked Lovely friendly welcome from Karen. She's so relaxed and accommodating! Offered lots of advice about where to get things etc and about the nearby microbrewery!
There's free range chickens and geese which is lovely for families. A woodland weekday and close enough for us (EMTB riders) to cycle to the Quantocks trails. Village has a store and places to eat.

Disliked Showers require pushing to operate and temperature wasn't adjustable. Others in our party felt there could be more sinks for washing and brushing teeth.

Liked Friendly greeting from Karen. Peaceful site, loved the chickens and geese. Entrance to local Ash Priors nature reserve approx 300 yards along road leading to a common, great for dog walking. Brewery tap room and pub (great Thai food) within walking distance.

Local attractions

Start local with a stroll up to the village to browse the farm shop, the Quantock Brewery, the tea rooms and the little rural life museum within Bishops Lydeard Mill. Just outside the village (but certainly worth travelling a mile for) is a smart hotel where you can pick up day passes for the swimming pool, spa and nine-hole golf course. If you need an excuse to book in for some pampering, perhaps a few long walks or bike rides would fit the bill? There are plenty of options in the nearby Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, around the Blackdown Hills AONB (20 minutes’ drive) or over in the Exmoor National Park (15 minutes). And one mustn’t forget the coast – the South West Coast Path starts in Minehead (half an hour), and it’s got plenty of beachy activities too. A little inland from Minehead is the splendid Dunster Castle; other fab options for days out nearby might include horse riding (10 minutes from the site) or gentle strolls around Hestercombe House & Gardens (15 minutes).
