  • Family-friendly Dorset park five minutes' walk from Durdle Door
  • Lulworth Cove half an hour's walk; 15 minutes' drive to Monkey World
  • Bar-restaurant and adventure play areas on site; dogs welcome
However many times you’ve seen it in pictures or videos, Durdle Door is one of those places that you really need to see for yourself. The huge stone arch on the Dorset coast is one of the UK’s most loved sights – whether you’re admiring it from the beach or swimming/kayaking around its base you’re sure to be wowed by its sheer size. You’ll easily be able to take in those spectacular views as many times as you like when you stay at Durdle Door Holiday Park. As the name suggests, this spacious family-friendly park is just a few minutes’ walk from the arch itself – and there are lots of other great Jurassic Coast sights within easy reach too. From this location (about a mile from the village of West Lulworth) the South West Coast Path links you up with other popular spots like Lulworth Cove, Stair Hole and Man O' War beach (none more than 45 minutes’ walk away). The coast path and many of the local beaches welcome dogs – and so does this park; they’re even allowed to join you in the bar and restaurant, making this an excellent base for those of you travelling with your beloved pets. Main meals, snacks, pizzas and kids’ meals are all on the menu here, along with a good range of hot and cold drinks. Other facilities at the park include a well-stocked shop (handy for your picnic bits and barbecue supplies), a launderette and a couple of excellent play areas – one suitable for toddlers, the other with more challenging adventures for slightly older kids.

What customers say

Great location with views & easy access to Durdle Door/Lulworth Cove. Friendly staff, good pitches, and on-site amenities praised. However, some found toilet/shower blocks dated, with inconsistent water, and cleanliness issues. Noise from road/parking was also noted.

Abbeyfield powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Location, so close to durdle door and Lulworth cove. Just perfect
Great pitches, took my 27ft motorhome and I had soooo much space! Amazing. Toilets and showers always clean and never crowded
Great little shop on site

Disliked The pub. Very basic, may have been the time I visited (9th - 12th aug)
Food not great, worth the walk to Lulworth for dinner

Powered grass campervan campsite (sea view)

Liked The location is truly beautiful, with stunning surroundings . The only downside is the large public parking area in front, which creates quite a lot of dust during the day — not ideal for those seeking complete daytime quiet. There is a public restroom nearby, while the campsite’s own facilities are a bit farther away. Overall, I would return, but only for a short stay — one day is perfect to enjoy the place without the daytime disturbance

Abbeyfield powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked - Location, on doorstep for Durdle Dor, Lulworth Cove and Man Tor, three lovely beaches albeit the are pebble beaches so wet shoes are a must
- Staff very friendly
- Pitch was a good size for our needs and private, as surrounded by hedges
- nice shaded forest play park and football area for children

Disliked - All the dust from white stones on the hard standing pitches and around the walkways of the park just get everywhere on all ground sheets, mats, shoes and dust inside van.
- The pebbled walkway up to the toilet/shower block - makes it an uncomfortable and difficult walk up there. Tar Mac /defined pathway would be better
- Toilet and shower block not the cleanest and dated.
- Showers - water pressure at times too low (cold) trickling or scalding hot with no way to adjust the temperature

Liked Proximity to durdle door and lulworth cove fantastic views. Lovely big pitches, tidy nice food from the pub and onsite shop although a little overpriced.

Disliked Problems with water supply, no hot water or no water at all to the shower s sinks and dish washer area. We were there for 7days and it only got fixed as we were leaving not good

Local attractions

Once you’ve marvelled at Durdle Door from the beach, how about seeing it close up? You can hire canoes or join guided trips from Lulworth Cove (five minutes’ drive/half an hour’s walk) – there are also paddleboard outings and RIB rides to try out here. Rather stick to dry land? There are plenty of options for walks around here – popular routes take you from the park along the South West Coast Path to Fossil Forest (a favourite fossil-hunting spot), to the Scratchy Bottom cliffs or all the way to Ringstead Bay on a seven-mile hilly coastal trail. Look out for wildlife as you wander – especially the 32 species of butterfly that live around here. For family days out, take a look at the likes of Monkey World (15 minutes’ drive), The Tank Museum (15 minutes) and the steam-driven Swanage Railway (35 minutes). Corfe Castle (25 minutes) and Abbotsbury’s Swannery and Subtropical Gardens (45 minutes) might also be on your radar – or maybe the sandy beach in Weymouth (half an hour)?
