  • Well-appointed nine-acre site in the north Norfolk countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to the coast at Cromer; half an hour to the Broads
  • Fishing lake, woodland walks, goat enclosure and e-bike hire
Keen to make the most of everything north Norfolk has to offer on your holiday? Deer's Glade Caravan and Camping Park makes an excellent base for a break – this family-friendly spot is in a strategic location surrounded by woodland but about 10 minutes’ drive from both Aylsham and the coast at Cromer. That setting means you’ll be able to head straight out into the woods (and onto public footpaths beyond) for a peaceful walk whenever you like, but you’ll also be in a great position for getting out and about – to the beach, to the Broads National Park or to one of the area’s many attractions, be it a stately home, a steam railway or a family park. It’s not all about heading out though, as there are nine acres of land to explore right there on site, with the chance to spot deer in the woodland if you’re quiet (and a little bit lucky…). Guests are welcome to fish at the site’s lake, and there’s also a play area and a goat enclosure to keep younger family members amused. The site also has lots of handy facilities including a shop, a wifi service, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets and showers (including wheelchair-accessible facilities). You can also hire e-bikes here for easy jaunts around the surrounding area – and perhaps to one of the lovely local pubs?

What customers say

This well-kept park offers spacious, private sites and great, clean facilities with warm showers and heated floors. Staff are friendly. Enjoy a well-stocked shop, food trucks, and a fantastic playground. While quiet and scenic with good Wi-Fi, some noted toilet backups, unsupervised kids, and occasional Wi-Fi issues. Near Cromer.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass campsite (deluxe)

Liked Plot and layout was practical and very well kept. Not too loud great facilities and food vans in communal centre with nice little goat pen and play area. Facilities local to the plot were very well kept and maintained nice and clean. Staff helpful on arrival with a lovely shop with lots to choose from and keep you going. Price very good for the quality of the overall plot kids loved it with nice local wooded areas on site for walks. We would definately use this again.

Liked Loved the hedge separation for the electric pitches which gave some privacy and the kids a designated area.

I really liked the shower cubicles and separate sink cubicles which meant showering and drying a relaxing experience, especially with the surprise luxury of under floor heating - I think every campsite needs this!

Facilities were generally well cleaned and maintained. And never had to queue despite the site being busy due to half term.

The addition of food vans in the evening was also a nice touch and used by us a few times. The community area with seating under festoon lighting was a lovely location to enjoy evening food with a super playground near by for the kids.

We didn’t make use of the washing up and laundry facilities but these were a great addition for those who wanted them and looked well maintained also.

The shop had a wide range of stock with friendly staff.

My husband enjoyed the typhoon aerial displays! (This were quite loud!)

Disliked We felt the pitches seemed a little crammed in, especially when it was at its busiest. The wasn’t much space between the pitches and you could easily hear those opposite or behind you.

There were a lot of kids around the site unsupervised, probably the same on any site in May half term though to be fair. Some of these hanged out in front of our tent in the evening and prevented our kids from sleeping due to their noise. They did move on and this is not really a reflection on the general site.

We couldn’t locate the dog shower, but this was billed as facilities available - this could do with signposting or including in the site map.

There were some issues with water pressure and the toilets not flushing fully whilst we were there, but wonder if this was related to the high capacity.

Local attractions

It’s the coast that draws many visitors to north Norfolk – and you’ll be in a good position here to see plenty of its hotspots. Perhaps start in Cromer (10 minutes’ drive) for the beach and a bit of crabbing from the pier, have a quiet trip to Mundesley beach (20 minutes) or go seal-spotting from Blakeney (35 minutes). The Broads National Park is another popular spot, and it will take you about half an hour to get there for scenic walks and boat trips. If you’ve brought the kids, you may like to look at outings like BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) and ROARR! dinosaur park (35 minutes) – or perhaps a ride on either the Bure Valley Railway (10 minutes) or North Norfolk Railway (20 minutes). Those of you on more grownup breaks may instead like to turn your attention to the National Trust sites at Blickling Estate (10 minutes) and Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate (15 minutes), or perhaps the royals’ favourite Sandringham Estate (an hour). Walks on Marriott's Way (10 minutes) and Weavers Way (20 minutes) are also options, as is a stroll around the historic centre of Norwich (35 minutes).
