  • Well-appointed nine-acre site in the north Norfolk countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to the coast at Cromer; half an hour to the Broads
  • Fishing lake, woodland walks, goat enclosure and e-bike hire
Keen to make the most of everything north Norfolk has to offer on your holiday? Deer's Glade Caravan and Camping Park makes an excellent base for a break – this family-friendly spot is in a strategic location surrounded by woodland but about 10 minutes’ drive from both Aylsham and the coast at Cromer. That setting means you’ll be able to head straight out into the woods (and onto public footpaths beyond) for a peaceful walk whenever you like, but you’ll also be in a great position for getting out and about – to the beach, to the Broads National Park or to one of the area’s many attractions, be it a stately home, a steam railway or a family park. It’s not all about heading out though, as there are nine acres of land to explore right there on site, with the chance to spot deer in the woodland if you’re quiet (and a little bit lucky…). Guests are welcome to fish at the site’s lake, and there’s also a play area and a goat enclosure to keep younger family members amused. The site also has lots of handy facilities including a shop, a wifi service, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets and showers (including wheelchair-accessible facilities). You can also hire e-bikes here for easy jaunts around the surrounding area – and perhaps to one of the lovely local pubs?

Local attractions

It’s the coast that draws many visitors to north Norfolk – and you’ll be in a good position here to see plenty of its hotspots. Perhaps start in Cromer (10 minutes’ drive) for the beach and a bit of crabbing from the pier, have a quiet trip to Mundesley beach (20 minutes) or go seal-spotting from Blakeney (35 minutes). The Broads National Park is another popular spot, and it will take you about half an hour to get there for scenic walks and boat trips. If you’ve brought the kids, you may like to look at outings like BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) and ROARR! dinosaur park (35 minutes) – or perhaps a ride on either the Bure Valley Railway (10 minutes) or North Norfolk Railway (20 minutes). Those of you on more grownup breaks may instead like to turn your attention to the National Trust sites at Blickling Estate (10 minutes) and Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate (15 minutes), or perhaps the royals’ favourite Sandringham Estate (an hour). Walks on Marriott's Way (10 minutes) and Weavers Way (20 minutes) are also options, as is a stroll around the historic centre of Norwich (35 minutes).

What customers say

Great spot, tidy and spacious pitches. Top-notch showers, well-stocked shop, and friendly staff. Near Norfolk coast. WiFi can be iffy, and more showers needed in peak season.

Liked plots are well maintained and site is well situated in Norfolk

Disliked We arrived on Saturday and had previously phoned to see if site was OK to still come with our tent due to mother nature and the storm.
The site said yes, we arrived and was given a pitch in full direct wind and next to a tree, yet loads of empty plots with hedgerows around all 3 sides for abit of protection. You are not allowed on site earlier unless you pay for it.
We set up and the wind started our pegs kept coming out due to flooded ground as so wet where out plot was. Went to start dinner and a power cut. The site power operates the campsites showers and water so you couldn't flush toilets or brush your teeth or have a shower. Power was off for 40 hours. So camping with no food due to being unable to cook, unable to clean yourself as no emergency lighting in toilets or water to wash.
Appalling. Customer service, yes they said we could move after we complained but how can you move an 8 man tent in a high wind and terrential rain storm when you have set everything up already and have 3 children with you.
Given we phoned on the day before arrival and they did not warrant the mother nature and effects to where they provided a pitch plot for us in full wind and wet the service was appalling.
We had to leave the next day as our tent ripped in the strong winds and we should still be their for two more nights.
No customer care for this or warranting an offer of part refund due to no water on site or electric and being unable to wash, you couldn't use the toilets as there was no emergency lighting either, a very poor that they have no emergency back up.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass site (deluxe)

Liked The site is kept well, nice hedges between pitches giving privacy..
First time here as we usually use Deers Mead site up the road, thought we would give this site a go seeing as it has a few fully serviced pitches now. Didn’t disappoint makes it much more relaxing. Use our own facilities but people said they were lovely.. we are used to Adult only sites, kids arrived Friday night they weren’t a problem but probably would choose to come Sunday and leave Friday in future just in case. Would probably avoid school holidays. A well stocked shop on site and had a pasta van serving various dishes I think it was Friday night.
The staff in reception were pleasant. Very easy access from main road to the site, not a narrow road like some or on coming traffic issues.

Camping pod

Liked Beautiful well kept site with a variety of pitches, pods and glamping tents. Peaceful and quiet. Excellent site shop. All public area toilets, washing areas, showers etc very good condition and quality. The standard pod areas are lovely with own water supply, good quality picnic bench and fire fit. Electricity, heating and tv inside if needed

Disliked After booking and paying via Pitchup received an email from Deers Glade requesting £100 security deposit. Whilst this is not unusual we did not like that payment was instantly taken and will be on my credit card until refunded up to 10 days after check out. Most places simply hold your card details in the event of a charge being needed for damage.

From the manager: Thanks for your review, it's great to see that you had a great time and was happy with the campsite. We will discuss your feedback around the deposit in the next monthly meeting, thank you
